Changan Launches BlueCore HEV, Targets Ultra-Low Fuel Consumption in Hybrid Vehicles

JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com – China Changan Automobile Group has officially unveiled its latest hybrid technology, BlueCore HEV, at a global launch event held in Chongqing, China, saying the system can significantly improve vehicle fuel efficiency.

BlueCore HEV is an intelligent hybrid system that integrates a 500-bar high-pressure direct injection hybrid engine, a high-power electric motor with strong magnetic flux, a high-performance battery built to stringent safety standards, and an AI cloud-based control system into a single architecture—without requiring external charging.

Road tests show the system delivers average fuel consumption of 2,98 liters per 100 kilometers in urban conditions for sedan models.

General Manager Zhao Fei said the technology represents a strategic step in the company’s efforts to provide global mobility solutions, describing BlueCore HEV as China’s contribution to the development of hybrid mobility worldwide.

He said the technology was developed over six years by a team of more than 1,000 engineers, with total investment exceeding RMB2 billion. The system incorporates 163 core technologies underpinning what the company calls a next-generation hybrid platform.

“Unlike conventional hybrid approaches, BlueCore HEV balances fuel and electric power through an intelligent control system,” Zhao said in a statement on Monday, April 6, 2026.

The approach allows for optimal efficiency across various driving conditions, including stop-and-go urban traffic.

From a user perspective, the system retains the convenience of conventional refueling while offering a smooth, electric-like driving experience and eliminating range anxiety.

The company has also equipped the system with advanced noise reduction technology, piston stop control, and wave cancellation technology to deliver a quieter ride.

Executive Vice President Yang Dayong described BlueCore HEV as a breakthrough in energy efficiency and vehicle intelligence, noting that its iDE-H (intelligent Deep Electrified Hybrid) architecture addresses the limitations of conventional HEV systems while enhancing fuel efficiency, driving experience, and smart features.

He added that BlueCore is part of Changan’s long-term evolution in powertrain technology, from the launch of its in-house engines in 2012 to the introduction of the BlueCore technology brand in 2019. The system has now been adopted by more than 10 million users worldwide.

Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its powertrain portfolio, positioning BlueCore HEV as a key foundation to drive the future growth of global hybrid mobility.
