JAKARTA, JakartaWeekly.com—State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi announced that President Prabowo Subianto had appointed Lieutenant General (Lt. Gen.) Ariyo Windutomo as Acting Presidential Chief of Staff, replacing Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
With the announcement, Prabowo officially dismissed Listyo Sigit Prabowo from his position as Presidential Chief of Staff. Prasetyo made the announcement on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
“This morning, the President made a decision and signed a presidential decree concerning the dismissal of Listyo Sigit Prabowo from his position as Presidential Chief of Staff. To temporarily fill the vacancy, the President has appointed Lieutenant General Ariyo Windutomo as Acting Presidential Chief of Staff,” Prasetyo said.
At the time of his appointment as Acting Presidential Chief of Staff, Ariyo was still serving as Head of the Presidential Secretariat, a position he had held since 2024 under President Prabowo Subianto.
A graduate of the Indonesian Military Academy’s 1996 class, Ariyo also has extensive experience in government. Before becoming Head of the Presidential Secretariat, he worked at the Ministry of Defense. His previous positions included Senior Analyst at the Bureau of Personnel, Head of the Ministry of Defense’s Personnel Division, and Head of the General Bureau at the Ministry of Defense’s Secretariat General.
Previously, Indonesia’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) had named Listyo Sigit Prabowo as one of three suspects in an alleged illegal wiretapping, unauthorized access, and electronic data deletion case involving incidents between 2025 and 2026.
“Based on the results of the investigation using the Scientific Crime Investigation method and the case management process, investigators have named three suspects, identified by the initials LSP, ASN, and EH. Meanwhile, one other individual, identified as SU, is still being questioned as a witness,” said National Police Criminal Investigation Chief Commissioner General Asep Safrudin.
Asep explained that the suspects allegedly ordered the interception of telephone numbers without following the procedures stipulated under National Police Regulation No. 5 of 2010 on wiretapping procedures.
Investigators found that several telephone numbers had been entered into the Lawful Interception Management System (LIMS) server without undergoing verification. The numbers were subsequently intercepted without any connection to law enforcement proceedings, including investigations or criminal inquiries conducted under applicable laws.
The telephone numbers allegedly targeted belonged to the President of Indonesia, state officials, political figures, media organizations, community organization leaders, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and businesspeople.
In addition to the alleged unauthorized wiretapping, investigators uncovered the suspected deletion of intercepted files from computers within the LIMS system in October 2026. The deletion was allegedly ordered by the suspects to cover their tracks.
Asep stressed that the case remains at an early stage of the investigation. The case is being handled by Bareskrim’s Cyber Crime Directorate.
“This is only the beginning. We have named three suspects, while one other individual is still being questioned as a witness. Our investigators will continue the investigation professionally, transparently, and accountably,” Asep said.
