YOGYAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com—KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta has added extra train services from Yogyakarta and Malang to Jakarta following the closure of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Railway Station (Basoetta).
Feni Novida Saragih, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, said KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta recorded a 12.5% increase in passenger numbers on Sunday (Sept. 6), serving a total of 51,646 passengers, up from 45,883 passengers the previous Sunday (Aug. 31).
“The increase in passenger numbers on Sunday (Sept. 6) was also influenced by the operation of two additional trains, namely the Yogyakarta-Gambir Extra Train and the Malang-Gambir Extra Train,” said Feni recently.
As of Monday (Sept. 7) at 10:30 a.m. local time, a total of 455 passengers had used the additional train services on Sunday, when two extra trains were in operation. On Monday, 114 passengers had used the additional services, with one extra train in operation.
KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta encourages the public to take advantage of the additional train services as an alternative for travel to Jakarta and surrounding areas.
KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta will continue to monitor the latest developments, coordinate with relevant parties, and provide further updates to passengers. Information on train services is available through the KAI121 Contact Center and KAI121’s social media channels.
