KAI Logistik Launches KA Ronggo and KA Klari 2, Adds 29,700 Tons of Monthly Freight Capacity

JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com – KAI Logistik has launched two new container train services, KA Ronggo and KA Klari 2. The new services are aimed at supporting the growing demand for goods distribution while strengthening the efficiency of the national supply chain.

KAI Logistik President Director Yuskal Setiawan said the company recorded an 8 percent year-on-year (yoy) increase in container transportation volume in 2025, indicating rising industry confidence in rail-based logistics services.

“The 8 percent year-on-year increase in container transportation volume in 2025 is a positive indicator that rail transport is increasingly trusted as a primary choice in supporting a safe, efficient, and timely logistics supply chain,” Yuskal said in an official statement on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

KA Ronggo serves the Sungai Lagoa–Ronggowarsito round-trip route using a consist of 25 flat wagons and operates once every two days. The operation also marked the inaugural journey of KA Ronggo from Sungai Lagoa.

Meanwhile, KA Klari 2 serves the Klari–Kalimas round-trip route with a consist of 30 flat wagons, also operating every two days. This operation marked the inaugural journey of KA Klari 2 from Kalimas.

According to Yuskal, the operation of the two new train services is part of the company’s commitment to providing more connected and competitive distribution services, particularly along industrial and port corridors with high distribution volumes.

In addition to increasing freight distribution capacity, the new services are expected to encourage a shift in logistics transportation from highways to railways, which are considered more environmentally friendly.

The move is also expected to help businesses prepare for the implementation of the Zero Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) policy, which is scheduled to take effect in 2027.

“KAI Logistik believes that strengthening rail-based services is one of the key solutions to support interregional connectivity, accelerate goods distribution, and improve national logistics competitiveness amid growing industrial and trade demand,” Yuskal said.

With the operation of KA Ronggo and KA Klari 2, KAI Logistik’s freight capacity has increased by up to 29,700 tons per month. The company believes that strengthening rail-based distribution can also help reduce emissions due to its lower carbon footprint compared to road transportation.

As part of its green logistics implementation, KAI Logistik has also started including carbon footprint information on customer invoices, enabling businesses to estimate the emissions generated from their distribution activities.

Going forward, KAI Logistik stated that it will continue developing its services to support a more integrated, adaptive, and sustainable national logistics ecosystem.
