JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com—Volcanic ash from increased activity at Mount Anak Krakatau disrupted TransNusa flight operations on Sunday (Sept. 6, 2026). Several flights to and from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) and Radin Inten II International Airport (TKG) were subject to operational adjustments, including delays and rerouting.

TransNusa said the adjustments were made as a precautionary measure to avoid areas potentially affected by volcanic ash. The decisions were based on Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), the latest information available, and guidance from relevant aviation authorities.

TransNusa President Director Bayu Sutanto said the airline was closely monitoring volcanic activity and airspace conditions to determine flight operations.

“TransNusa understands that these operational adjustments may affect passengers’ travel plans. We are therefore working to ensure that affected passengers receive the necessary information and assistance in accordance with operational conditions and applicable regulations,” Bayu said in a written statement on Sunday.

TransNusa is also coordinating with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, AirNav Indonesia, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), and the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) to monitor the spread of volcanic ash.

Depending on airspace conditions and information from relevant authorities, flight adjustments may include delays, cancellations, or rerouting.

Four Options for Affected Passengers

TransNusa is offering several options to passengers whose flights have been affected, in accordance with applicable regulations.

First, passengers may reschedule their flights to another date without an additional fee, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

Second, where possible, passengers may be offered rerouting through alternative airports that remain operational.

Third, passengers may request a refund, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

In addition, TransNusa will provide meals, beverages, and accommodation to eligible passengers affected by flight delays, in accordance with applicable provisions.

Affected passengers can obtain information about available assistance through the TransNusa Call Center at +62 21 6310 888, as well as the airline’s official website and social media channels.

TransNusa said operational adjustments would continue to be evaluated based on developments in Mount Anak Krakatau’s activity and prevailing airspace conditions.

The airline is also coordinating with airport operators, AirNav Indonesia, and relevant authorities to minimize disruptions to its flight network.

TransNusa advised passengers to check the latest information about their flights through the airline’s official channels before traveling.
