JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com – Public interest in the Whoosh high-speed rail service continues to rise ahead of the long weekend holiday period from May 14 to 17, 2026. As of 5 p.m. WIB on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, a total of 17,000 Whoosh tickets had been sold, with sales projected to reach around 20,000 by the final departure of the day.
KCIC General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said the increase in passenger numbers had started to become noticeable from the afternoon through the evening compared to normal days.
“The number of passengers will continue to increase tomorrow and throughout the long weekend period. The public is encouraged to purchase tickets online before arriving at the station,” Eva said in a statement received by Jakartaweekly.com on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The rise in passenger traffic at Halim Station was seen from the 4:30 p.m. WIB departure until the final trip at 9:25 p.m. WIB, with occupancy rates reaching between 80% and 95%. Most passengers were traveling to Padalarang and Tegalluar Summarecon.
Whoosh tickets can be purchased online through the Whoosh app, the ticket.kcic.co.id website, Access by KAI, Livin’ by Mandiri, BRImo, Wondr by BNI, Tiket.com, Traveloka, and Trip.com, as well as offline at station ticket counters.
Eva also urged passengers to take travel time to Halim Station into account due to the potential increase in traffic volume ahead of the long weekend period.
“Passengers should arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure to ensure a comfortable boarding process and avoid missing their Whoosh train,” she said.
In addition to anticipating the surge in passengers, KCIC is also optimizing various non-farebox business services across all Whoosh stations during the long holiday period. The company has prepared more than 100 retail and non-retail tenants, including MSMEs, as well as thousands of parking spaces to support passenger convenience.
Eva said the service optimization was aimed at providing a more comfortable and integrated travel experience amid increasing public mobility.
“During long holiday periods, public mobility generally increases. KCIC is ensuring that all supporting facilities and station services can be utilized optimally so that passenger journeys remain comfortable, practical, and seamless,” she said.
KCIC currently operates a total of 116 retail and non-retail tenants across all Whoosh stations, consisting of 87 non-MSME tenants and 29 MSME tenants. Halim Station has 60 tenants, Padalarang Station 31 tenants, Tegalluar Summarecon Station 23 tenants, and Karawang Station two tenants.
The tenants provide a wide range of passenger needs, from food and beverages, travel necessities, and MSME products to other supporting services. In addition to culinary and retail outlets, stations are also equipped with non-retail facilities such as ATMs, vending machines, smart lockers, charging services and power bank rentals, photoboxes, and massage chairs.
KCIC has also prepared more than 1,500 parking spaces at Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar Summarecon stations for both cars and motorcycles.
The parking facilities can be used for overnight parking and are equipped with CCTV monitoring and 24-hour security personnel. According to KCIC, the paid parking service is part of the development of a mobility hub ecosystem at Whoosh stations to make passenger travel more practical and integrated.
Eva added that Whoosh stations continue to be developed not only as departure and arrival points, but also as public service spaces capable of meeting various passenger needs in one location.
“We also continue to encourage the public to utilize the intermodal integration services available at all Whoosh stations, such as the Jabodebek LRT, feeder trains, shuttle services, taxis, and online transportation, so that public travel becomes easier, more practical, and integrated,” Eva said.
