ASDP Ensures Ketapang–Gilimanuk Crossing Remains Under Control Ahead of Eid al-Adha Holiday

KETAPANG, Jakartaweekly.com — PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has ensured that ferry services on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route remain under control ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday and the long weekend commemorating Pancasila Day, despite temporary vehicle congestion caused by changing weather conditions in the Bali Strait over the past few days.

ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale stated that the dynamic weather conditions had affected vessel operational adjustments, particularly during docking maneuvers and loading and unloading processes, which had to be carried out more carefully to maintain sailing safety.

The situation had triggered vehicle queues, especially for logistics trucks, at several points around the port area. However, the company ensured that handling measures were implemented quickly and systematically to keep traffic moving.

Based on data from Thursday (May 21, 2026) to Sunday (May 24, 2026) at 6:00 p.m. WIB, the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route served 14,936 vehicles, dominated by logistics trucks, and 51,465 passengers. Meanwhile, from Gilimanuk to Ketapang, 20,392 vehicles and 67,546 passengers were successfully transported.

He emphasized that the safety of passengers, crew members, and vehicles remains the company’s top priority amid the high public mobility ahead of the long holiday period.

“We understand that the increased waiting time has become a concern for service users. However, under dynamic weather conditions, all service processes must be carried out with the utmost caution. Safety cannot be compromised and remains the top priority in every ferry crossing,” he said in a press release seen on Monday, May 25, 2026.

ASDP also confirmed that a comprehensive operational evaluation had been conducted together with regulators and stakeholders following incidents involving two vessels running aground on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route several days ago. Strengthening sailing safety procedures, regulating vessel operation patterns, and improving the preparedness of field officers continue to be intensified.

Additional Support Vessel Added

To anticipate a surge in vehicles and passengers during the Eid al-Adha holiday, ASDP has optimized the function of the Bulusan parking area, which can accommodate up to 400 logistics trucks.

In addition, ASDP has deployed the auxiliary vessel KMP Rodhita, which previously operated on the Lembar–Padangbai route. The 1,236 GT vessel has a carrying capacity of up to 58 small vehicles or around 30 mixed vehicles.

ASDP Ketapang General Manager Arief Eko Kurniansjah said that the main focus on the ground is to ensure that vehicle flow continues to move gradually and orderly.

The company also urged people planning to cross during the Eid al-Adha holiday period to arrange their trips in advance, purchase tickets through the Ferizy application before arriving at the port, and ensure that both their physical condition and vehicles are in prime condition for a safe and comfortable journey.
