JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com – PT Sasa Inti recently bagged the Risk Management Program (PMR) Award from Indonesia’s Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), a testament to the food giant’s dedication to strengthening national food safety and empowering local small businesses.
The accolade was handed out during the 2026 National Coordination Forum for Commercial Sterile Food, an event marking World Food Safety Day and celebrating a decade of BPOM’s PMR initiative. The forum highlighted the importance of accelerating the growth of competitive sterile food production facilities across the country.
Sasa took home the award for being the “First Industry to Mentor MSMEs in Phased PMR Licensing.” Since 2022, the company has actively teamed up with BPOM and IPB University to roll out educational programs, hands-on training, and technical assistance for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the sterile food sector.
These initiatives are designed to help smaller businesses grasp essential food safety standards, improve their production readiness, and ultimately churn out safe, high-quality, and competitive products for the market.
“This award is a great reminder that building a strong food safety culture takes long-term commitment and cross-sector teamwork,” said Ir. H. Snowerdi Sumardi, MM, Chief Manufacturing Officer of PT Sasa Inti. “Alongside BPOM, IPB, and our stakeholders, Sasa wants to keep sharing our knowledge and experience so more MSMEs can adopt excellent food safety standards. We believe this step will elevate the competitiveness of Indonesia’s food industry while making a real impact on our national food ecosystem.”
BPOM Head Prof. dr. Taruna Ikrar, M. Biomed., Ph.D., echoed the sentiment during the forum, emphasizing that the PMR initiative goes beyond mere risk mitigation.
“The PMR is a preventive measure grounded in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). A truly mature industry is one that can handle prevention independently,” he noted.
Moving forward, Sasa plans to keep pushing the envelope for capacity building among local food entrepreneurs. For over five decades, the Rodamas Group subsidiary has been a household name in Indonesian kitchens, known for its wide array of seasonings, coconut milk, and other innovative food products. Through continued collaboration, Sasa hopes to inspire more industry players to help build a more resilient and inclusive national food ecosystem.
