PTDI Delivers NC212i Aircraft to Indonesian Air Force

BANDUNG, Jakartaweekly.com — State-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has delivered another NC212i aircraft ordered by the Indonesian government for the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU).

Dena Hendriana, Production Director of PTDI, said the aircraft is the eighth of nine NC212i units ordered by the government.

“God willing, this aircraft will strengthen the Indonesian Air Force, particularly the unit based in Malang, and contribute to safeguarding the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. We hope the ferry flight from Bandung to Malang proceeds smoothly, the crew remains safe and healthy, and the aircraft arrives safely in Malang,” he said in Bandung on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Hendriana said PTDI signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense to supply specially configured NC212i aircraft designed for troop transport, weather modification (rainmaking), and aerial photography missions.

According to him, the Troop Transport, Rainmaking, and Camera configuration enables the NC212i to support a wide range of operational requirements, including personnel transport, weather modification operations, and aerial imaging missions.

The specialized configuration reflects the flexibility of the NC212i platform, which can be tailored to meet specific user requirements, allowing the aircraft to perform multiple mission profiles effectively.

He added that the aircraft is equipped with the MTV-27 propeller manufactured by Germany’s MT-Propeller, which has been certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The propeller is designed to improve both aircraft performance and operational comfort.

According to Hendriana, the MTV-27 offers several advantages, including lower noise levels, improved single-engine performance at higher altitudes, and smoother engine starts without noticeable jolts.

“Combined with its proven compatibility with the Honeywell TPE331 engine, the MTV-27 propeller enhances aircraft performance while reducing vibration and noise, resulting in greater operational comfort and efficiency,” he said.

The aircraft, bearing tail number AX-2135, will be operated by the Indonesian Air Force’s 4th Air Squadron based in Malang. The ferry flight is being commanded by Lt. Col. Andika Ardyagana as Pilot in Command, with Capt. Irvan Fajar serving as co-pilot.

Before its delivery, the aircraft received its Flight Acceptance Certificate on July 9, 2026.

Speaking on the same occasion, Lt. Col. Andika Ardyagana said the aircraft is capable of delivering its full operational performance.

He expressed hope that the aircraft would further strengthen the Indonesian Air Force’s capability to safeguard the country’s sovereignty.

“We also hope PTDI continues to grow stronger and remains capable of supporting government programs while fulfilling Indonesia’s national defense requirements in support of an Advanced Indonesia,” he said.

To date, PTDI has delivered eight NC212i aircraft to the Indonesian Air Force in configurations tailored to operational needs, including Troop Transport, Rainmaking & Camera, and Navigation Training.

The variety of configurations demonstrates the versatility of the NC212i platform in supporting diverse mission requirements while highlighting PTDI’s capability to deliver customized aerospace solutions that meet users’ operational needs.

The remaining NC212i aircraft is scheduled for completion and delivery in October 2027. Upon its delivery, PTDI will have fulfilled its contract with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense to supply nine NC212i aircraft for the Indonesian Air Force, underscoring the company’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s air defense capabilities.
