JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com — Honda Motor Co., Ltd. held the world premiere of two new electrified prototypes, the Honda Hybrid Sedan Prototype and the Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype. Both models are scheduled to enter global markets within the next two years as part of Honda’s accelerated electrification strategy.

The unveiling coincided with Honda’s presentation of its global strategic direction, delivered by Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President and Representative Executive Officer (Global CEO) of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

Toshihiro said the two concept vehicles are among many new products the company plans to launch in the coming years.

“Honda will continue to deliver products that are not only efficient and relevant to current consumer needs, but also preserve the enjoyable driving experience that has long been a hallmark of Honda,” he said in a press statement on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

He explained that the company aims to ensure the transition toward the electrification era remains aligned with the character and values trusted by Honda customers worldwide.

Toshihiro added that the Honda Hybrid Sedan Prototype and Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype utilize a next-generation hybrid system developed entirely from scratch, including the vehicle platform, powertrain system, and the latest electric AWD unit.

He noted that the new technology will serve as the main foundation for Honda’s global electrified vehicle portfolio in the coming years.

Starting in 2027, Honda also plans to gradually introduce models based on the technology across several key global markets. The company aims to launch 15 new models by the end of fiscal year 2030.

According to Toshihiro, Honda’s latest hybrid technology generation delivers 10 percent better energy efficiency compared to the previous generation, while maintaining a responsive and enjoyable driving character.

To accelerate product development, Honda has introduced the “Triple Half” approach, a transformation initiative targeting a 50 percent reduction in development costs, time, and workload compared to 2025 levels.

In addition, the ASIMO OS operating system, previously developed for Honda electric vehicles, will also be applied to the new-generation models to deliver smarter mobility experiences across more vehicle segments.

In its global roadmap, Honda places Asia, including India and the ASEAN region, as a strategic pillar for the company’s long-term growth. The latest-generation technology will be developed using approaches tailored to consumer needs in each market.

Honda also reaffirmed its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 through the development of next-generation EV platforms, solid-state battery technology, and the latest Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which is scheduled to begin rollout in 2028.

Toshihiro said that to support the roadmap, Honda has allocated a global investment of 6.2 trillion yen over the next three years, including 1 trillion yen in software investment to accelerate its electrification transformation.

“Honda will continue to deliver products that are not only efficient and relevant to current consumer needs, but also preserve the enjoyable driving experience that has long been a hallmark of Honda,” he said.
