JAKARTA, JakartaWeekly.com — Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia has entered its third year by expanding the program to Surabaya through the participation of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) as a new university partner, alongside Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB).

In Batch 3, 100 students from UI, ITB, and ITS will serve as student volunteers, providing learning assistance and support at 20 learning centers and schools in Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya.

The ceremony held on October 7, 2026, marked the completion of Batch 2, the launch of Batch 3, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the participating partners.

President Director of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia Kenny Lee said Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia has entered its third year by involving more students, schoolchildren, and local communities through mentoring and educational activities.

“As it enters its third year, Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia continues to reflect our belief that progress becomes more meaningful when it can create a positive impact for others. Through this program, we want to empower young people to continue learning, sharing, and inspiring the next generation,” Kenny said.

He said the addition of ITS in Surabaya alongside UI and ITB reflects Hyundai’s long-term commitment to supporting Indonesia’s younger generation.

“This year, we are also proud to welcome Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Surabaya, joining Universitas Indonesia and Institut Teknologi Bandung. This development reflects Hyundai’s long-term commitment to supporting Indonesia’s younger generation,” he said.

In Batch 3, the 100 selected students consist of 40 students from UI, 30 from ITB, and 30 from ITS. They will provide learning assistance and support at 20 learning centers and schools across the three cities.

The program continues Hyundai JUMP School’s collaborative model, which connects school students, student volunteers, and professional mentors.

Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia was first introduced in September 2024. Batch 1 ran until June 2025 through a collaboration with UI.

The program continued with Batch 2 in October 2025, involving ITB and expanding its reach from the Greater Jakarta area to Bandung. In Batch 3, ITS joined the program, marking the first time Hyundai JUMP School has been held in Surabaya.

With the completion of Batch 2, Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia had involved 150 student volunteers in its first two batches. The addition of 100 students in Batch 3 brings the cumulative number of participating students to 250.

The program has also reached around 1,400 students at learning centers cumulatively through learning and mentoring activities since its introduction in Indonesia in 2024.

Dadan Erwandi, Director of Student Affairs and Alumni at Universitas Indonesia, said UI would continue its collaboration with Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia.

“Through this initiative, our students have the opportunity to learn outside the classroom by engaging directly with communities while supporting the development of younger students,” Dadan said.

Meanwhile, Muhamad Insanu, Director of Student Affairs at Institut Teknologi Bandung, said ITB’s continued participation in the program provides students with opportunities to engage in social activities and collaboration.

“Beyond sharing knowledge, student volunteers are also encouraged to develop empathy, communication and leadership skills, as well as a stronger sense of responsibility toward the communities around them,” Muhamad said.

Nurul Widiastuti, Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, said ITS welcomed the opportunity to participate in Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia.

“The program gives our students the opportunity to apply their knowledge outside the university environment while developing empathy, leadership skills, and a deeper understanding of the communities around them,” Nurul said.

During the program, student volunteers will regularly interact with school students to share knowledge, provide learning assistance, and offer emotional support. The volunteers will also receive guidance from professional mentors, including Hyundai employees and other professionals.

Hyundai JUMP School was first introduced in South Korea in 2013 and has since expanded to several countries, including Vietnam and Indonesia. The program applies a mentoring model that connects school students with student volunteers and professional mentors.
