KARAWANG – PT Pupuk Kujang Cikampek recently sent dozens of local women residing near the company’s operational area to participate in an intensive culinary training program at the Bogasari Baking Center in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Monday, May 18, 2026. This initiative aims to elevate their skills, equipping the community to produce a wide variety of high-quality culinary products.
“Through this training, I hope all the women here can enhance their culinary abilities to create delicious and popular culinary products, which will serve as a strong foundation for starting a successful business,” stated Agung Gustiawan, VP of Corporate Social Responsibility (TJSL) at Pupuk Kujang, during his briefing to the participants on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Empowering Local “Mamapreneurs”
Agung explained that the “Lokamandiri Mama Preneur” program is one of Pupuk Kujang’s flagship initiatives this year, specifically designed as an empowerment program targeting women and mothers in the surrounding communities. The program strategically targets women to optimize their potential as the primary economic drivers for their families.
“For this batch, we dispatched 30 participants representing 10 villages across Cikampek,” Agung added.
Hands-On, Industry-Standard Training
During the workshop, the women from Cikampek engaged in hands-on learning. They mastered the entire production process, from selecting the right flour, weighing, and measuring, to properly processing the ingredients into premium culinary creations.
“Participants get to practice directly and experience what it takes to prepare food to a high standard, naturally guided by culinary experts from Bogasari,” Agung continued.
The Bogasari Baking Center was selected due to the company’s extensive history in Indonesia’s food industry. “Bogasari was founded in 1969 and officially inaugurated in 1971, possessing a long history in downstreaming wheat-based products. It is because of this history, and the fact that their products are highly familiar to the public, that we chose Bogasari,” Agung explained.
Sustainable Impact and Business Mentorship
As part of the corporate social investment pillar, this program is designed as a sustainable strategy to drive economic independence for the communities supporting the company, rather than just serving as a ceremonial event.
To ensure long-term success, Pupuk Kujang has structured a comprehensive post-training support system:
“We are committed to continuously increasing local economic capacity. Through this industry-standard culinary training, we hope participants will not only improve their skills but also gain fundamental knowledge to become independent and competitive entrepreneurs,” said Agung.
Commitment to ESG and SDGs
From a program governance perspective, the execution of the Lokamandiri program is evaluated using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework. This measurement ensures that every CSR fund allocated by the company generates tangible, multiplier social, economic, and environmental impacts for the local community.
Through this capability building, Pupuk Kujang continues to advance its support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Furthermore, Agung noted that this program strengthens the company’s commitment to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, especially within the social empowerment pillar.
Chef Haryanto from the Bogasari Baking Center expressed that Bogasari is also proud to be part of this collaboration with Pupuk Kujang. He highlighted that this training helps cultivate future entrepreneurs who will actively contribute to the community’s economy. “Hopefully, this activity can boost the local economic wheels,” Haryanto concluded.
