MANDALIKA, Jakartaweekly.com — Indonesian driver Sean Gelael began preparations for the second round of the GT World Challenge Asia by visiting the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on Wednesday (April 29, 2026), marking his debut at the track.
Upon arrival, Sean headed straight to the Garage 75 pit to meet the team, including race engineer Oscar Jimenez, team manager Cheah Lai Shen, as well as technicians from Ferrari and Oreca. The meeting served as an initial step in building professional chemistry ahead of the race weekend.
Sean expressed enthusiasm for his first race in Mandalika, particularly with the livery of the Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, which features national elements, including an illustration of Indonesia’s red-and-white flag on the roof.
“My first impression with Garage 75 has been very positive. I appreciate the preparations that have been made and I’m really looking forward to this race,” Sean said in a press release on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
At the same time, Garage 75 team owner David Tjiptobiantoro said he was proud of Sean’s decision to join the team, noting that the presence of an Indonesian driver at the international level adds value to the outfit.
“If we win in Mandalika, it means ‘Indonesia Raya’ will be played,” he said.
Sean and David also conducted a track walk along the 4.3-kilometer circuit, discussing strategy and team readiness. Garage 75 is the reigning GTWCA Am class champion and is now aiming to compete strongly in the Silver class alongside Sean.
The Mandalika round of the GT World Challenge Asia will feature two one-hour races on Saturday (May 2, 2026) and Sunday (May 3, 2026), with live coverage available on the championship’s official YouTube channel, @GTWorld.
