Soekarno-Hatta, Halim Perdanakusuma, & Husein Sastranegara Airports Resume Flights

JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com—Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Halim Perdana Kusuma, Jakarta, and Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung have resumed flight operations after temporarily suspending services due to volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau. 

According to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by AirNav Indonesia, Soekarno-Hatta Airport resumed operations at 12:30 a.m local time (WIB) on September 8, 2026, followed by Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at 12:40 a.m WIB and Husein Sastranegara Airport at 12:42 a.m WIB. 

InJourney Airports Corporate Secretary Group Head Arie Ahsanurrohim said the airside and landside facilities at all three airports were ready to resume flight operations. All airport operations and services personnel were also confirmed to be ready. 

“The airport reopening procedures have been carried out, including the removal of volcanic ash across the entire airside area, including the apron, taxiway and runway. Runway friction tests were also conducted, and the results showed that the facilities met the required standards and operational safety requirements,” Aerie said.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport General Manager Heru Karyadi said the airport would resume operations gradually, with safety remaining the top priority. This includes the implementation of Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) as part of the strategy to manage air traffic during the initial recovery phase.

During the initial recovery phase, flight operations will be managed gradually and in a controlled manner through the implementation of ATFM.

“This arrangement is necessary to ensure that departure and arrival flows can resume safely and orderly, while allowing the airport’s operational capacity to be restored gradually,” Heru Karyadi said.

Furthermore, flight flow management during the initial recovery phase will take into account operational conditions on the ground, including the need to expedite departures of aircraft previously affected by the disruption and gradually restore apron capacity.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also coordinated with all public transportation operators to ensure sufficient fleet availability to support passenger mobility to and from the airport.

Passengers are advised to regularly check and confirm their flight status and schedules through their respective airlines’ official channels before traveling to the airport, as flight schedules may be subject to adjustments.
