Astra Otoparts Launches New Scooter Tire as Aspira Marks 50th Anniversary

PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (AUTO) has unveiled the Aspira Premio Stretto 2, a new premium tire developed specifically for automatic scooters, as the company celebrates its 50th anniversary and seeks to strengthen its position in Indonesia’s expanding motorcycle aftermarket.
The tire made its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, reflecting Astra Otoparts’ focus on delivering products that match changing consumer mobility patterns, where scooters are increasingly used not only for daily commuting but also for long-distance touring.
Indonesia remains one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets. According to data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), national motorcycle sales reached 6.41 million units in 2025, with automatic scooters accounting for approximately 91.7% of domestic sales. The dominance of scooters has fueled demand for aftermarket components that can deliver better handling, safety, and durability across a variety of road conditions.
“Automatic scooters are no longer used solely for everyday commuting. They have increasingly become the preferred choice for recreational riding and touring,” said Martogi Siahaan, Director of Astra Otoparts.
“That evolution in customer needs inspired us to develop the Aspira Premio Stretto 2 with a completely new tread design that delivers the right balance of grip, handling, control, and comfort, enabling riders to travel with greater confidence in different road conditions.”
The launch expands the Aspira Premio tire lineup, following the introduction of the Aspira Premio Sportivo RS-01 in 2024 and the Aspira Premio Sportivo 2 in 2025. With the arrival of Stretto 2, Astra Otoparts now offers a product specifically engineered for the country’s rapidly growing automatic scooter segment.
Marketed under the campaign “Control The Streets,” the new tire features an Urban Control Tread Design, developed to provide balanced performance for both city commuting and longer rides. According to the company, the design enhances road grip while maintaining stability and ride comfort across varying driving conditions.
Several new technologies have been incorporated into the tire. An optimized groove angle improves steering precision during cornering and maneuvering, while a larger center contact patch enhances stability and control at different speeds. A wide groove channel is designed to evacuate water more efficiently on wet roads, helping reduce the risk of hydroplaning, while a balanced tread pattern delivers consistent performance and everyday comfort.
Compared with its predecessor, the Aspira Premio Stretto 2 offers measurable improvements in several key areas. Astra Otoparts says the tire provides up to 20% better stability, 10% stronger grip on both dry and wet roads, 20% greater riding comfort, and 10% more even tread wear, helping extend tire life without compromising performance.
The company will initially launch the tire in 80/90-14 and 90/90-14 sizes beginning in August 2026, followed by 90/80-14 and 100/80-14 variants in September. The available sizes are intended to accommodate many of Indonesia’s most popular automatic scooter models.
Beyond product innovation, Astra Otoparts continues to strengthen engagement with Indonesia’s motorcycle community through activities such as Sunday Morning Rides (Sunmori), coffee rides, weekend rides, touring programs, and community gatherings. The company says these events provide valuable opportunities to interact directly with riders while gathering feedback that helps shape future product development.
