PONTIANAK, Jakartaweekly.com – The Ministry of Creative Economy, in collaboration with Solidaritas Perempuan untuk Indonesia Kabinet Merah Putih (Seruni KMP), held a Creative Economy Talent Development Workshop: Voice Over (Dubbing) in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, as the voice over industry is seen as having strong growth potential amid the rapid expansion of Indonesia’s creative economy and digital content sector.

Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi, said the creative economy sector has become one of the key drivers of national economic growth.

Based on the Creative Economy Statistics report released by BPS at the end of 2025, the sector contributed Rp1.6112 quadrillion to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and recorded investment value of Rp183.01 trillion in 2025.

“The growth has also created significant opportunities for the voice over and dubbing industry, which is increasingly needed amid the rapid development of digital content,” Cecep said in a statement on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

He said the workshop is expected to create new economic opportunities for young people in West Kalimantan through the voice over industry and the digital creative economy, while also strengthening the competitiveness of local talent to pursue professional careers in the sector.

Participants received vocal technique training as well as insights into Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), personal branding, and networking strategies in the global creative industry.

Cecep added that the Ministry of Creative Economy continues to support voice over talent development through sustainable programs such as Wonder Voice of Indonesia.

“We want young talents not only to be skilled in voice performance, but also to understand business aspects, intellectual property rights, and how to build personal branding on global platforms,” he said.

The workshop also highlighted the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the voice industry in 2026.

During the event, professional voice over talent Bimo Kusumo said human emotional quality remains irreplaceable despite advances in AI technology.

“It is true that AI can imitate tone, but AI will never be able to replace empathy and storytelling that touch people’s hearts. In the voice over industry, we are not just producing sound, but building emotional connections with listeners,” Bimo said.
