JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com – National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has once again maintained its title as the world’s most punctual airline according to OAG FlightView for the April 2026 period.

Based on the report from the UK-based global aviation research and ranking agency, Garuda Indonesia recorded an On-Time Performance (OTP) of 97.9% from a total of 5,947 flights operated throughout April 2026.

Garuda Indonesia Vice President Director Thomas Oentoro said punctuality has become one of the key indicators in the company’s performance transformation, particularly in strengthening a more competitive and consistent operational foundation.

“This achievement is a strong indicator that our continuous efforts to improve operational reliability are beginning to show tangible results,” he said in a press release on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

He explained that punctuality is a crucial element in building customer trust. This has encouraged management to make it a consistent service standard.

According to him, the achievement was supported by strengthened operational discipline across all lines, ranging from optimizing fleet readiness and aircraft rotation to improving cross-functional coordination to support smooth flight operations.

Thomas added that the achievement was also the result of the collective efforts of all Garuda Indonesia Group employees amid the still challenging dynamics of the aviation industry.

He claimed that the On-Time Performance made Garuda Indonesia the only airline from the Asia-Pacific region to rank among the top performers in OAG FlightView’s global flight punctuality ranking.

The achievement continued a similar accomplishment in March 2026, when Garuda Indonesia also recorded an OTP of 97.9% and became the world’s most punctual airline.

For information, based on OAG FlightView’s methodology, OTP calculations are conducted by comparing the aircraft’s actual arrival time at the gate with the scheduled arrival time.

The assessment also takes into account all operated flights, with a minimum data coverage requirement of 80% of total scheduled flights, as well as a minimum operational threshold to qualify for the global ranking.
