JAKARTA — Indonesia’s halal industry will take center stage at the Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo (Halal Indo) 2026, which will be held from September 24–27 at Hall 3 and 3A of the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang.
Organized as a platform for the halal industry ecosystem, the expo is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors and feature over 400 businesses from Indonesia and overseas. The exhibition will cover a wide range of sectors, including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and traditional medicines, cosmetics and lifestyle products, ceramics and tableware, textiles and textile products, consumer goods, and halal industrial zones.
Beyond the exhibition floor, Halal Indo 2026 will feature business matching sessions, talks, workshops and other activities designed to connect businesses with potential partners and buyers.
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is participating in Halal Indo 2026 as part of its efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s halal industry ecosystem and expand market access for domestic manufacturers.
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the expo provides an opportunity to connect Indonesia’s industrial capabilities with growing demand in international markets.
“Indonesia has enormous potential to become one of the world’s halal industry centers,” Agus said in a statement on September 19.
He said strengthening the halal industry requires an integrated approach, including improving the capabilities of businesses, supporting certification, promoting products and expanding market access.
Halal Indo 2026 will occupy an exhibition area of approximately 12,740 square meters, bringing together companies and industry stakeholders from different parts of the halal ecosystem.
The event is also expected to provide opportunities for Indonesian small and medium-sized industries to build business networks and meet potential buyers from overseas markets.
International participants and potential buyers are expected from countries including Uzbekistan, Vietnam, the Philippines, the United States, Morocco, Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand, Libya, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the United Arab Emirates, the Maldives, Hong Kong and South Korea.
Kemenperin will operate a 1,818-square-meter pavilion at Halal Indo 2026, featuring 174 businesses selected as co-exhibitors.
According to Kemenperin Secretary General Eko S.A. Cahyanto, 236 businesses registered for the booth facilitation program after registration opened in May. Following a sector-based selection process, 174 participants were selected, consisting of 20 large industries and 154 small and medium-sized industries.
The pavilion will include a main booth, standard booths for participating businesses, halal services provided by Kemenperin’s Halal Inspection Institution, public services from Kemenperin’s Public Relations Bureau, and a showcase featuring winners of the Indonesia Halal Industry Awards (IHYA) 2026.
Business meetings, workshops and interactive activities will also take place at the pavilion.
Kemenperin is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade to disseminate information about participating companies and co-exhibitors through Indonesian diplomatic representatives overseas. The effort is intended to help identify potential buyers and create opportunities that extend beyond exhibition exposure.
Halal Indo 2026 will also feature the Indonesia Halal Industry Awards (IHYA) 2026, an initiative recognizing stakeholders contributing to the development of Indonesia’s halal industry.
The awards cover companies, small and medium-sized industries, industrial estates, government institutions, universities and financial institutions. Industry categories include food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and traditional medicines, cosmetics, ceramics and glassware, household health supplies, textiles and apparel, leather and leather products.
IHYA 2026 attracted 1,091 participants, with 374 advancing through document verification and self-assessment. A further 97 participants proceeded to the judging stage after achieving the highest scores. A plenary judging meeting on September 3 produced 22 recommended award recipients, who will subsequently be determined through a Minister of Industry decree.
Another feature at Halal Indo 2026 will be the Showcase Produk Unggulan Dalam Negeri 2026, highlighting selected domestic products that hold both halal and Indonesian Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certifications.
The Ministry’s P3DN Center will also provide consultations through a TKDN Coaching Clinic, covering certification processes and requirements. A focus group discussion will bring together industries with TKDN-certified products that may be affected by or eligible for halal certification requirements.
Eko said strengthening the relationship between halal certification and TKDN could help Indonesian products compete across government procurement, domestic markets and international markets.
For Halal Indo 2026, the focus extends beyond displaying products. The four-day expo is designed to bring manufacturers, buyers, government institutions and other industry stakeholders into the same marketplace, with business matching and international participation providing opportunities for new partnerships and market access.
