Hyundai Cuts STARGAZER Prices, Debuts New EVs at GIIAS 2026

JAKARTA — Jakartaweekly.com. PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) has unveiled one of its most comprehensive product lineups at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, combining internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and battery electric vehicles (EVs) while announcing a permanent price reduction for its STARGAZER Cartenz family MPV.

Under the theme “Deliver Meaningful Innovation, Definitely Can Do,” Hyundai showcased a range of new models, including the Indonesian debut of the flagship IONIQ 9, the introduction of STARIA Electric and STARIA Hybrid, an updated PALISADE, as well as special displays of the IONIQ 3 and the NEIRA Prototype, a locally planned seven-seat electric SUV.

President Director of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia Kenny Lee said GIIAS remains an important platform for Hyundai to demonstrate its long-term commitment to Indonesia’s automotive industry while providing customers with a broad choice of mobility solutions.

“We understand that every customer has different mobility preferences,” Lee said. “That is why Hyundai continues to offer one of the most comprehensive vehicle portfolios in the market, covering ICE, hybrid, and electric vehicles, allowing customers to choose the technology that best suits their lifestyle and mobility needs.”

A key announcement during the exhibition was Hyundai’s decision to permanently lower the prices of the STARGAZER Cartenz and STARGAZER Cartenz X lineups, making the family MPV more accessible to Indonesian consumers.

Prices for the STARGAZER Cartenz now start from Rp241.4 million, while the STARGAZER Cartenz X begins at Rp350 million (on-the-road Jakarta). Hyundai emphasized that the adjustment is not a temporary promotional campaign, but a permanent pricing strategy reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to the Indonesian market.

Chief Operating Officer Fransiscus Soerjopranoto said the STARGAZER Cartenz has received strong market acceptance since its launch at GIIAS 2025, thanks to its spacious cabin, modern design, advanced safety features, and strong value proposition for Indonesian families.

“With this new permanent pricing, we want to deliver even greater value without compromising the vehicle’s quality, design, technology, features, or after-sales support,” he said.

Beyond competitive pricing, Hyundai continues to strengthen ownership benefits through its myHyundaiCare ecosystem, which includes an extended warranty, complimentary scheduled maintenance, 24-hour roadside assistance, emergency services, premium courtesy vehicles, spare parts support, and a resale value guarantee for eligible models.

Hyundai also used GIIAS to announce the NEIRA Prototype, a seven-seat electric SUV designed specifically for Indonesian families. Planned for local production at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI), the model is intended to offer spacious practicality while supporting Indonesia’s transition toward electric mobility.

The name NEIRA is inspired by Banda Neira, reflecting Hyundai’s intention to develop an EV tailored to Indonesian lifestyles while celebrating the country’s cultural heritage.

Another major highlight was the Indonesian debut of the IONIQ 9, Hyundai’s flagship premium electric SUV.

Powered by a 110.3 kWh battery, the all-wheel-drive model produces 427.7 PS and 700 Nm of torque, offering an estimated driving range of up to 734 kilometers under the NEDC testing cycle. Built on Hyundai’s 800-volt EV architecture, the IONIQ 9 supports ultra-fast DC charging, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes under optimal conditions.

The premium SUV also features powered second-row relaxation seats, Digital Side Mirrors, and a spacious cabin designed for family travel, positioning it as Hyundai’s flagship electric offering in Indonesia. During GIIAS, Hyundai is offering the IONIQ 9 at a special introductory price of Rp1.49 billion with pre-bookings now open.

Expanding its premium multi-purpose vehicle portfolio, Hyundai also introduced the STARIA Electric and STARIA Hybrid, providing customers with additional powertrain options for executive transportation, family use, and business mobility.

The fully electric STARIA features an 84 kWh battery, a 218 PS electric motor, an estimated driving range of 544 kilometers (NEDC), and 800-volt ultra-fast charging technology capable of charging from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes.

Both STARIA variants retain the model’s spacious cabin while adding premium amenities such as VIP Captain Seats, advanced comfort technologies, and enhanced interior practicality. The STARIA Hybrid further features a panoramic roof, while the STARIA Electric introduces Interior Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing occupants to power compatible electronic devices directly from the vehicle.

Hyundai also revealed an updated PALISADE, featuring new comfort technologies, including Dynamic Body Care massage seats for second-row passengers and additional safety enhancements.

Meanwhile, the IONIQ 3 made its appearance as a concept display, offering a preview of Hyundai’s future vision for compact urban electric mobility through its aerodynamic “Aero Hatch” design and signature pixel lighting.
