TANGERANG — Jakartaweekly.com. PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) has officially launched the third-generation Mazda CX-5 at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, marking a new chapter for one of the Japanese automaker’s most successful global models.
The new CX-5 arrives in Indonesia after 15 years of global success, during which the premium SUV has sold more than five million units across more than 100 countries. Widely recognized as the first Mazda model to fully embody the company’s KODO design philosophy and SKYACTIV technology, the CX-5 has become one of the brand’s defining vehicles, earning multiple international accolades, including a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award for nine consecutive years.
The latest model has been developed under Mazda’s “Succession and Evolution” philosophy, retaining the characteristics that made the CX-5 popular while refining nearly every aspect of the vehicle to meet the expectations of today’s premium SUV buyers.
“The Mazda CX-5 has played a defining role in Mazda’s global journey. Rather than creating an entirely different vehicle, our focus for the third generation was to refine the qualities customers value most,” said Ricky Thio, Chief Operating Officer of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia.
“We believe the All-New Mazda CX-5 will continue that legacy while strengthening Mazda’s position in Indonesia through a premium SUV that is increasingly relevant to the needs of our customers.”
Mazda has built its communication around four key pillars for the Indonesian market: spaciousness, intuitive technology, precise handling, and enhanced safety. Together, these principles reflect the improvements introduced throughout the vehicle.
The exterior evolves Mazda’s signature KODO design language with sharper styling, redesigned front and rear lighting, and a stronger road presence while maintaining the elegant proportions that have defined the CX-5 since its debut. The SUV’s larger dimensions also contribute to a more commanding appearance without sacrificing its sporty character.
Inside, Mazda has redesigned the cabin with a cleaner horizontal dashboard layout that creates a greater sense of openness. Rear passengers benefit from increased headroom and legroom, while luggage capacity has also been expanded to improve everyday practicality. Premium materials and meticulous Japanese craftsmanship remain central to the cabin experience.
Technology has received a significant upgrade. The All-New CX-5 features a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, an Active Driving Display, capacitive steering wheel controls, and a 12-speaker BOSE premium audio system. The interface has been designed to reduce driver distraction while ensuring essential information remains easily accessible.
Under the hood, the SUV is powered by Mazda’s 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G petrol engine, producing 179 PS and 240 Nm of torque. Engineers have further refined acceleration, cornering performance, ride comfort, and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), delivering the brand’s signature Jinba-Ittai driving philosophy—a seamless connection between driver and vehicle.
Safety remains one of the CX-5’s strongest selling points. The latest model is equipped with Mazda’s i-Activsense suite of advanced driver assistance technologies, including Blind Spot Monitoring, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Smart Brake Support, and Mazda Radar Cruise Control, among other active safety systems designed to enhance driver confidence and passenger protection.
Mazda will offer the new CX-5 in Indonesia in two variants. The Sport Edition is priced from Rp599 million, while the more premium Kuro Edition starts at Rp689.9 million (on-the-road Jakarta). Customers can choose from seven exterior colors, with premium paint finishes available at an additional cost.
Both variants will be introduced gradually through Mazda’s nationwide dealer network. Customers purchasing the All-New CX-5 during GIIAS 2026 will also receive a five-year or 150,000-kilometer vehicle warranty, along with three years or 60,000 kilometers of complimentary scheduled maintenance, including parts and labor.
According to Viya Arsawireja, Head of Marketing & Communications at PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia, the latest CX-5 reflects Mazda’s philosophy that premium vehicles should offer more than advanced technology and strong performance.
“For Indonesian customers, a premium vehicle is defined not only by its performance but also by craftsmanship, distinctive design, and a driving experience that creates an emotional connection,” she said.
With the introduction of the third-generation CX-5, Mazda aims to strengthen its position in Indonesia’s premium SUV segment by combining refined styling, advanced technology, enhanced comfort, and the engaging driving dynamics that have made the CX-5 one of the company’s most enduring global success stories.
