Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Limited to 30 Units, Is It Coming to Indonesia?

AFFALTERBACH, Jakartaweekly.com—The Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung has officially been introduced as a high-performance model limited to just 30 units worldwide.

Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Head of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Mercedes-Maybach Business Units Dr. Stefan Weckbach said the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung represents the character of AMG through development focused on driving dynamics.

“For me, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung represents the true essence of AMG. This vehicle was born from the dream of engineers who created an extremely irrational car through a highly rational approach,” Weckbach said.

He said the Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung is the second model in the Mercedes-Benz Mythos Series after the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed. The car is based on the CLE 53 platform, with each unit handcrafted at AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany.

The model is powered by a 4.0-liter AMG M177 EVO biturbo V8 engine producing 646 hp, or 475 kW. Maximum torque reaches 850 Nm and is available between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm.

One of the major changes compared with the base model is the drivetrain. Mercedes-AMG has removed the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system and replaced it with rear-wheel drive. The configuration reduces weight while also changing the driving characteristics of the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung.

With a Launch Control system adapted for rear-wheel drive, the car can accelerate from 0 to 200 kph in 11.4 seconds. Its top speed reaches 310 kph.

The vehicle’s weight has also been reduced by around 170 kilograms through the use of various lightweight materials and the removal of several components. The weight reduction is part of AMG’s efforts to enhance vehicle dynamics, particularly when the car is used on a racetrack.

On the exterior, the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung features a wide-body concept, with the body made 60 millimeters wider at both the front and rear. Carbon fiber is used extensively for several components, including the fenders, aprons, hood, roof and rear diffuser.

The car rides on 20-inch AMG Performance forged wheels. The front wheels measure 11.0 J x 20, while the rear wheels measure 12.0 J x 20. They are paired with 305/30 ZR20 tires at the front and 335/30 ZR20 tires at the rear.

To enhance handling, Mercedes-AMG uses steel coilover suspension developed in collaboration with KW Automotive. The damper system can be adjusted in four directions, covering low-speed and high-speed rebound and compression settings.

The braking system uses AMG Ceramic High-Performance Composite brakes. At the front are 420 x 40-millimeter carbon-ceramic discs with six-piston calipers, while the rear uses 360 x 32-millimeter discs with single-piston floating calipers.

The aerodynamics have also been specifically developed for the model. The front diffuser can be manually adjusted between Street and Race positions. In the Race position, the diffuser is designed to improve airflow underneath the vehicle and generate additional downforce on the front axle.

The carbon-fiber rear spoiler can also be manually adjusted to help increase downforce on the rear axle. Overall, the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung’s aerodynamic system can generate more than 250 kilograms of downforce at top speed.

Inside the cabin, Mercedes-AMG has removed several components to reduce weight. The rear seats and some sound-insulation materials have been removed. The car also features lightweight racing bucket seats, carbon-fiber door panels and an AMG Performance steering wheel finished in DINAMICA microfiber.

The CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung is also not equipped with several comfort and driver-assistance features, including the PARKTRONIC parking assistance system. As part of the optional Performance Package, six-point safety harnesses are available for the driver and passenger.

The exterior design combines Mojave Silver Magno at the front with Obsidian Black Magno from the B-pillars to the rear. The vehicle’s ride height has been lowered by 22 millimeters at the front axle and 16 millimeters at the rear axle.

Chief Design Officer of Mercedes-Benz Group AG Bastian Baudy said the extensive use of carbon fiber is one of the car’s key design characteristics.

“The Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung sets a new standard with its extreme character and outstanding driving dynamics. The extensive use of carbon fiber creates a highly distinctive appearance,” Baudy said.

The Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung will be produced in only 30 units worldwide. Mercedes-AMG said all of the units had already been sold before the model was officially unveiled to the public.

Given the extremely limited production run, as of September 16, 2026, Mercedes-AMG has yet to provide any official information regarding the model’s availability in Indonesia.
