Selatox Opens Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility in Cikarang

CIKARANG, Jakartaweekly.com — PT Selatox Bio Pharma has officially inaugurated its biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Cikarang, West Java, after obtaining Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification from Indonesia’s National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM).

The certification enables the company to begin commercial production of aesthetic biopharmaceutical products while strengthening Indonesia’s position as one of the world’s manufacturing hubs for botulinum toxin products.

Selatox Bio Pharma CEO Joh Young-hoon said the GMP certification marks a major milestone for the company, confirming that its manufacturing facility and quality management system comply with regulatory requirements.

“Receiving GMP certification from BPOM is a significant achievement for Selatox. It confirms that our manufacturing facility and quality management system meet the required standards,” Joh said during the inauguration ceremony in Cikarang on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Joh said the company is committed to producing high-quality biopharmaceutical products through precision manufacturing processes and rigorous quality control, ensuring the confidence of healthcare professionals and business partners alike.

He added that the certification also serves as the foundation for Selatox to build an integrated biopharmaceutical ecosystem encompassing research and development (R&D), manufacturing, and global business operations.

Going forward, the company plans to continue investing in local talent development and internationally standardized manufacturing technologies to support the growth of Indonesia’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Selatox is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the research, development, and manufacturing of aesthetic biopharmaceutical products. Its current product portfolio focuses on Botulinum Toxin Type A.

The newly inaugurated manufacturing facility is equipped with advanced production technology, sterile manufacturing areas, and an integrated quality management system covering the entire production chain—from raw material receiving and manufacturing to laboratory testing and product distribution.

Agus Tjahajana Wirakusumah, Special Advisor to Indonesia’s Minister of Health for Health System Transformation, said the government continues to strengthen domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity as part of the country’s broader healthcare transformation agenda.

According to Agus, facilities such as Selatox are expected to enhance Indonesia’s pharmaceutical self-sufficiency while improving the competitiveness of the national healthcare industry through technological advancement and collaboration among the government, industry, and academic institutions.

Meanwhile, BPOM Chairman Taruna Ikrar said the inauguration of the manufacturing facility and the successful GMP certification demonstrate the company’s commitment to meeting internationally recognized standards for product quality, safety, and efficacy.
