JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com— Supply Chain Indonesia (SCI) projects the gross domestic product (GDP) of the transportation and warehousing sector to reach Rp1,713.24 trillion in 2027, representing 7.69 percent growth from the 2026 projection of Rp1,597.55 trillion.
The projection was presented by SCI ahead of the Indonesia Economic Outlook (IEO) 2027, which will be held on October 6–8, 2026, at JS Luwansa Hotel in Jakarta.
Supply Chain Indonesia Founder & CEO Setijadi said that, based on SCI’s projection, the GDP of the transportation and warehousing sector in 2027 would increase from the 2025 figure of Rp1,466.26 trillion.
“More specifically, the transportation subsector’s GDP is projected to reach Rp1,340.91 trillion in 2027, with growth of 7.59 percent. Meanwhile, the warehousing subsector’s GDP is estimated at Rp372.33 trillion, with higher growth of 10.65 percent,” he said in Jakarta recently.
He said the development underscored the increasingly important role of transportation, warehousing, and connectivity in supporting economic activity, goods distribution, trade, industry, and market development.
However, growth in the sector also faces challenges, including global uncertainty, cost pressures, changing demand, investment requirements, and the need to improve supply chain efficiency.
“Growth in the transportation and warehousing sector must be accompanied by higher productivity, network optimization, technology adoption, and stronger collaboration among industry players. Businesses need to translate the economic outlook into appropriate strategic decisions as they prepare for 2027,” he said.
IEO 2027 carries the theme “Driving Growth in a Fragmented Global Economy: Strategy, Resilience & Business Expansion for 2027.”
The fifth annual national conference is designed as a forum for business leaders, professional practitioners, investors, regulators, academics, and other stakeholders to discuss economic developments and their implications for business strategies.
The discussions will cover global economic developments, potential geopolitical conflicts and trade fragmentation, the national economic outlook, and their implications for business strategy, resilience, investment, and expansion.
The three-day program will cover the global and Indonesian economic outlook, food security, domestic trade, business cost structures, intelligent supply chains, consumer industries, logistics and connectivity, investment and financing, manufacturing, energy, as well as leadership and business transformation.
In addition to seminars, IEO 2027 will feature networking activities, a Business & Innovation Expo, and the presentation of the “Indonesia Logistics Awards (ILA) 2026” to companies, institutions, and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding achievements and performance and made important contributions to the development of Indonesia’s logistics sector.
