JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com—Xiaomi Indonesia has confirmed that it will bring its electric vehicles to Indonesia. The Chinese company believes Indonesia’s automotive market offers significant potential for electric vehicles.

Xiaomi Indonesia Country Manager Michael Feng said Indonesia’s large electric vehicle market potential is supported by its population of around 280 million people. This, he said, makes Indonesia a major market.

“For the Indonesian market, because Indonesia is a large market and Xiaomi also has the number-one market share here, we have a very large fan base. This is very important to us. So, 100 percent, we will launch it here,” he told Jakarta Weekly recently.

However, Feng said the company has yet to determine when the electric vehicles will officially be launched in Indonesia. At present, he said, Xiaomi’s global management has only announced plans to launch its electric vehicles in Europe in 2027.

He added that Xiaomi Indonesia is still waiting for several aspects of the launch plan to be finalized, including the sales or dealer network that will be established.

According to Feng, the company needs to take a step-by-step approach to launching Xiaomi electric vehicles in Indonesia. He said management wants to provide the best possible experience for customers in Indonesia.

“So, if we are not ready, we cannot simply say that we are ready. That would be irresponsible to our business,” he said.

Cooperation with Several Dealer Groups

Meanwhile, regarding its plans to enter the European market, Xiaomi has revealed that its management has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with several leading dealer groups in Germany.

Xiaomi’s move to enter the European market through Germany comes after its electric vehicles recorded rapid growth in China. More than 700,000 vehicles have been delivered since the company launched its first electric vehicle in early 2024.

The company chose Europe as one of its expansion markets because the continent is known as the birthplace of the automobile and is one of the world’s most mature automotive markets.

Among European countries, Germany was selected as the first market because it is home to several well-established automotive dealer groups with a long history in the industry, making it a strategic starting point for building Xiaomi’s European network.

The eight dealer groups are Ernst Dello GmbH & Co. KG, Autohaus Dinnebier GmbH, Emil Frey Germany, Fett & Wirtz Automobile GmbH & Co. KG, Hahn Automobile GmbH + Co. KG, LUEG Mobility GmbH, Penske-Jacobs Innovation GmbH, and SPT Avior SE & Co. KG.

The eight groups are among the most established and respected automotive dealer groups in Germany and Europe. Collectively, they bring decades of experience and extensive expertise in operating premium automotive brands.

“Standing here in Berlin, we are delighted to begin this new chapter together with eight of Germany’s most respected automotive dealer partners,” said Yu Liguo, Vice President of Xiaomi Auto and Head of the Xiaomi Auto International Business Department.

He said the company is committed to making long-term investments in Europe. With its European R&D center in Munich and a growing network of sales and service partners, Xiaomi is committed to bringing innovative products and first-class service experiences to European consumers.

For context, the Xiaomi SU7 Series reached sales of 500,000 units in just 28.5 months, while the Xiaomi YU7 recorded more than 240,000 locked orders within 18 hours of its launch.

The Xiaomi SU7 also ranked first in the Large BEV segment in J.D. Power’s China New Energy Vehicle Initial Quality Study (NEV-IQS) for two consecutive years, in 2025 and 2026.
