Ramadan 2026 Home Design Trend: Functional Luxury for Eid Gatherings

Jakartaweekly.com — As Eid al-Fitr approaches, many Indonesian households are preparing not only food and festive clothing but also refreshing their living spaces to welcome family and guests. In 2026, Eid is expected to fall on March 20 or 21, prompting a seasonal surge in home improvement and interior design upgrades.

According to research from Populix, home furnishings and property-related purchases remain among the priorities during Ramadan. The survey shows that 11 percent of Indonesian Muslim consumers plan to buy home furnishings, while 2 percent intend to purchase property-related products during the fasting month.

The tradition of open house gatherings during Eid often encourages families to update furniture, redecorate living rooms, or renovate parts of their homes to create a welcoming environment for relatives and guests. Increased household activities during Ramadan—from pre-dawn meals (suhoor) to iftar gatherings—also motivate homeowners to design spaces that are more comfortable and functional.

Financially, such upgrades are often supported by the annual Eid holiday allowance, commonly known in Indonesia as THR. Data from YouGov indicates that 55 percent of respondents allocate part of their holiday bonus to Eid-related spending, including home improvement and household items.

Interior design trends for the upcoming Ramadan season emphasize a blend of minimalism, comfort, and practicality—often referred to as “functional luxury.” Several concepts are expected to dominate home design this year:

  • Design Reimagined: Combining textured materials, mixed surfaces, and organic design elements.
  • Quiet Luxury 2.0: A more subtle approach to luxury that prioritizes thoughtful design rather than flashy décor.
  • Tactile Minimalism: Clean, minimalist shapes enhanced by textured surfaces.
  • Biophilic Performance: Natural lighting, organic textures, and open spaces that connect indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Value-Driven Design: Durable, cost-efficient materials that maintain both quality and aesthetic appeal.

“In interior design, every space tells a story. Eid is also a moment to create new space in our hearts filled with peace and togetherness,” said Gunarso, Director of PT Keramika Indonesia Assosiasi Tbk.

Home Improvement Solutions

Several companies are introducing products to support home upgrades ahead of Eid. Building materials and home renovation solutions from SCG, including cement and mortar products, aim to provide durable foundations for home renovations.

Home décor options are also available through retailers such as Mitra10, Depo Bangunan, and Atria Furniture, which offer a wide range of furniture, building materials, and household products.

With Eid celebrations centered around family gatherings and hospitality, the trend toward functional yet elegant living spaces reflects a broader desire among Indonesian homeowners to create warm, comfortable environments for sharing the festive season with loved ones. (***)
