JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com—Art Jakarta 2026 will present a diverse lineup of programs designed to expand opportunities for artists, galleries, collectors, communities and art institutions to connect. The art fair will take place from October 2-4, 2026, at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
Alongside 75 participating galleries, Art Jakarta 2026 will once again feature a number of programs exploring various forms of contemporary art practice. The programs include SPOT, SCENE, AJX, and SCOPE, which will make its debut this year.
Art Jakarta Artistic Director Enin Supriyanto said Art Jakarta has grown into one of the dynamic art fairs in Southeast Asia. Starting this year, Art Jakarta will be held three times a year through Art Jakarta Papers, Art Jakarta Gardens and Art Jakarta International Art Fair, each with its own focus.
“Art Jakarta also needs to remain a space where art stakeholders in the region can meet, exchange information and knowledge, build networks and collaborate,” Enin said.
One of the returning programs is SPOT, which gives galleries the opportunity to present works beyond the conventional booth format. The program allows galleries to explore different scales and spatial approaches in presenting artworks.
This year, SPOT will feature artists from Indonesia and the region, including Vietnam’s Nguyễn Phương Linh through Ara Contemporary, Indonesia’s Henryette Louise through ArtSociates, Albertho Wanma and Budi Santoso from ROH, and Angki Purbandono from SAL Project.
Art Jakarta will also once again present SCENE, a platform highlighting artist collectives and collaborative projects. The program reflects the diversity of collective practices within Indonesia’s contemporary art ecosystem.
For its 2026 edition, SCENE has expanded to include 39 participants from cities across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, AJX serves as a platform for collaborations between Art Jakarta and local and international cultural institutions. One of its programs is Korea Focus, which enters its second year and is presented in collaboration with the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Management Service.
Korea Focus will bring 14 galleries from South Korea to Art Jakarta 2026. In addition, Natta-Cita Art Space (N-CAS) from ISI Bali will showcase contemporary Balinese art by artist-academics.
For the first time, Art Jakarta will also present SCOPE, in collaboration with the National Talent Management (MTN) for Arts and Culture, managed by Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture.
Through MTN Market, SCOPE will showcase a selection of emerging art fairs from various parts of Indonesia. Selected through an open call, the participants include Mini Art Malang from Malang, Artists Art Fair from Pekanbaru, ART HEY from Banyumas, Maa Ledungga from Gorontalo, Hello Goodbye Photo Market from Bekasi, and Watercolor Art Fair from Yogyakarta.
Beyond these programs, Art Jakarta 2026 will also feature a range of special presentations resulting from collaborations between partners and artists.
Julius Baer, for example, will present a collaboration with artist Handiwirman Saputra at the VIP Lounge. Visitors will also be invited to participate in Kuasa Alam (The Might of Nature), an interactive activation that allows them to create customized art prints.
Bibit and Stockbit will collaborate with Yogyakarta-based artist Endry Pragusta on Lost at Sea, an installation in the form of a raft. Visitors will also be invited to take part in writing and origami activities as part of the installation.
Treasury will collaborate with 2026 Treasury Art Prize winner Etza Meisyara on Gravity of the Unheld, an intermedia and multisensory installation. Meanwhile, BCA will present myBCA District One, where visitors can explore various practical and innovative banking features.
Other collaborations include iForte and Protelindo Group with artist Agnes Hansella on Hutan Kabel, as well as TACO with Aji Fajar/Palette Studio on The Curiosity Engine.
SUPERMUSIC will also showcase the winners of the ART MEETS MUSIC competition. The competition invited participants to translate the energy, gestures and lifestyle of the music scene into artworks.
Meanwhile, MR.D.I.Y., which joins as a new Main Partner this year, will showcase works by seven winners of the MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia Art Competition 2026, themed “Strength & Resilience.” The presentation will also feature six award recipients from MR.D.I.Y.’s competitions in Malaysia and Thailand.
A number of collaborations between brands and artists will also be part of Art Jakarta 2026. ALCHEMIST has teamed up with Japanese contemporary painter Mai Yokoyama to design its booth and product packaging. Djournal will collaborate with Darbotz through exclusive merchandise, coffee creations, booth design and a sculptural work.
MINI will also bring its collaboration with Paul Smith to Art Jakarta, inviting visitors to explore their personal interpretations of the meaning of “destination.”
Art Jakarta 2026 will also welcome several new Main Partners, including AIA through The Living Legacy, which presents a collaboration with batik maestro Iwan Tirta. EDISII, meanwhile, will showcase a selection of art prints by Ugo Untoro, Sunaryo, Agus Suwage and other artists.
Aesop will also participate through Aesop Women’s Library, while The Solitaire will mark its debut partnership with the art fair this year.
Overall, the lineup of programs broadens the scope of Art Jakarta 2026 beyond an exhibition of galleries and artworks, positioning it as a platform for collectives, communities, cultural institutions, emerging art fairs and diverse artistic practices from Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
