SURABAYA, Jakartaweekly.com—Berlian Hutauruk will return to the stage to perform “Badai Pasti Berlalu” at a concert in Surabaya on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The singer, who first performed the song for Teguh Karya’s 1977 film, will share the stage with Once Mekel and Vina Panduwinata.
Iwan Kurniawan, Project Director of Kolam Ikan Creative Communication, said the “Badai Pasti Berlalu” Live in Concert in Surabaya follows its previous performance in Jakarta. The return of Berlian Hutauruk is part of the Surabaya lineup, alongside Once Mekel and Vina Panduwinata.
“After the Jakarta concert, we received a lot of responses and requests for ‘Badai Pasti Berlalu’ to be brought to Surabaya. We are bringing Once and Vina back because their performances left a strong impression on the audience. This time, with Berlian Hutauruk joining the lineup, the Surabaya show will feel more complete because she was directly part of the history behind the birth of the song ‘Badai Pasti Berlalu,’” Iwan Kurniawan said recently.
Berlian Hutauruk first performed “Badai Pasti Berlalu” for Teguh Karya’s film in 1977. Her distinctive vocal character later became closely associated with the song, which has since been performed by singers from different generations.
The “Badai Pasti Berlalu” soundtrack album was created through a collaboration involving Erros Djarot as music director, along with Chrisye, Yockie Suryo Prayogo, Keenan Nasution, Debby Nasution, Fariz RM and Berlian Hutauruk. In 2007, the album was named the greatest Indonesian album of all time by Rolling Stone Indonesia.
Erros Djarot said Berlian Hutauruk was an important part of the creation of “Badai Pasti Berlalu” and that her voice had the character and emotional strength needed to bring the song to life.
“Berlian is an important part of the birth of ‘Badai Pasti Berlalu.’ From the beginning, I felt that her voice had the character and emotional strength needed to bring the song to life. Nearly five decades later, hearing Berlian perform the work again will certainly be a very special moment, not only for me but also for audiences in Surabaya,” Erros Djarot said.
Once Mekel and Vina Panduwinata will also return after performing at the “Badai Pasti Berlalu” Live in Concert at Balai Sarbini in Jakarta last April.
At the Jakarta concert, Once performed “Selamat Jalan Kekasih,” “Pelangi” and “Merpati Putih.” Vina Panduwinata performed “Hening” with Ardhito Pramono, as well as solo performances of “Matahari” and “Rindu.”
The “Badai Pasti Berlalu” Live in Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Auditorium of Building Q, Petra Christian University, Surabaya.
