LONDON, Jakartaweekly.com — The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) has appointed Don Davis as its new Managing Director, effective 1 July 2026, succeeding Karen Davis.
OCIMF Chair Lambros Klaudatos said Don Davis brings operational experience, strategic leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of the maritime industry required to lead the organization into its next phase.
“We are very pleased to welcome Don to OCIMF,” he said in London on Monday, 22 June 2026 local time.
He added that Don brings a combination of operational expertise, strategic leadership, and deep industry knowledge. Having worked closely with OCIMF for many years, he said, Don has a strong understanding of the organization’s members, its mission, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the maritime industry.
He further stated that maritime safety will remain a fundamental aspect of the evolving energy sector.
According to him, Don’s experience and commitment to collaboration and operational excellence make him exceptionally well positioned to lead OCIMF into its next chapter.
Don Davis will join OCIMF on secondment from Chevron and assume the role on 1 July 2026, while Karen Davis will remain with the organization until the end of June to support a smooth leadership transition.
The appointment comes as OCIMF enters a new phase following the adoption of its new mission, “United in purpose to drive maritime safety in the energy sector.”
In his new role, Don will lead OCIMF’s efforts to support maritime safety, environmental stewardship, and best operational practices across the global maritime industry. He will also help deliver the organization’s strategic priorities for the future.
Don currently serves as General Manager of Global Marine Assurance at Chevron Shipping Company. He has more than 30 years of experience in tanker, barge, marine terminal, and offshore vessel operations.
In addition, over the past five years he has served as Chevron’s representative on OCIMF’s Publication & Advocacy Offshore Principal Committee, including the last four years as its chair. He currently also serves as Chevron’s alternate representative on the OCIMF Executive Committee.
On the same occasion, Don said that safety, collaboration, and operational excellence are becoming increasingly important amid changes in the global energy landscape.
“It is an honor for me to join OCIMF at such a critical time for the maritime industry. As the global energy landscape continues to evolve, the industry’s commitment to safety, collaboration, and operational excellence has never been more important,” he said.
He added that OCIMF plays an important role in bringing stakeholders together to share knowledge, develop best practices, and address emerging challenges in the maritime sector.
Meanwhile, Karen Davis said she is proud of the organization’s achievements during her tenure as Managing Director.
According to her, the launch of SIRE 2.0 in 2024, along with the organization’s brand evolution and adoption of a new mission, reflects OCIMF’s ability to adapt and continue leading amid changes in the energy sector.
“I look forward to working closely with Don over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition and to support the continued success of the organization,” she said.
