Darya-Varia and Mayapada Hospital Bandung Launch Wound Care Center

JAKARTA – Jakartaweekly.com. PT Darya-Varia Laboratoria Tbk (DVLA) has entered into a strategic partnership with Mayapada Hospital by launching a Wound Care Center at Mayapada Hospital Bandung.

The Wound Care Center provides integrated services for the treatment of various types of wounds, including diabetic wounds, post-surgical wounds, and cancer-related wounds. The center also offers treatment for scar-related conditions such as keloids, hypertrophic scars, and skin discoloration caused by wounds (hyperpigmentation), as well as aesthetic wound care services.

Darya-Varia President Director, Dr. Ian Kloer, explained that the collaboration represents a concrete step toward improving public access to modern, comprehensive, patient-centered, and internationally standardized wound care services.

“As a company committed to helping build a healthier Indonesia, Darya-Varia aims to play an active role in improving the quality of healthcare services for the community,” said Dr. Ian Kloer.

The establishment of the center addresses the challenges of managing both chronic and acute wounds in Indonesia, where more standardized treatment approaches are still needed. A study conducted by Bhakti Kencana University found that 60% of respondents had experienced wound infections during treatment, while 75% stated that they needed technical training on proper wound care practices.

These challenges are becoming increasingly relevant as the number of patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes continues to rise, increasing the risk of wound complications. At the same time, cases of acute wounds resulting from surgery, trauma, and accidents remain high.

As part of the partnership, Darya-Varia is also providing a range of solutions that support modern wound management, including advanced wound dressings, topical antibiotics, and Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) technology, which helps accelerate wound healing across various clinical conditions.

Mayapada Hospital Bandung Hospital Director, Dr Irwan S. Hermawan, MM, stated that the success of chronic wound management should not be measured solely by wound closure and healing. It should also be evaluated based on efforts to preserve organ function and prevent complications, enabling patients to return to their daily activities comfortably and optimally.

“Therefore, Mayapada Hospital Bandung has established the Wound Care Center as comprehensive wound care services with international standards, emphasizing the concept of modern wound care through collaboration among multidisciplinary medical teams, structured clinical pathways, and support from advanced facilities and technologies,” said Dr. Irwan.

He added that the treatment process at the Wound Care Center is also supported by Wound Care Educators from the nursing team, who play a key role in providing continuous patient support. They help ensure that treatment is delivered in a more structured and coordinated manner, while also educating patients and their families on proper wound care at home to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.

With the support of a multidisciplinary team of physicians, structured clinical pathways, and modern facilities and technologies, the Wound Care Center is designed to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered wound care services.

The collaboration between Darya-Varia and Mayapada Hospital reflects the long-term commitment of both institutions to improving healthcare quality in Indonesia. Through this partnership, both parties aim to expand access to modern, standardized wound care services while contributing to better patient outcomes and quality of life.

In line with its efforts to deliver integrated healthcare solutions, Darya-Varia’s commitment to enhancing healthcare quality is also demonstrated through its Medical Science Center (MSC), an electronic library that provides access to international scientific journals and medical reference materials for medical students, physicians, and healthcare professionals.

To date, the MSC has been established in six teaching hospitals across Indonesia. Through this initiative, Darya-Varia continues to support the development of medical knowledge and professional competencies, helping improve the quality of patient care throughout Indonesia.
