PT Kawasan Industri Makassar (KIMA) has announced plans to develop a new industrial area in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi. Achmad Daeng Sere, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VII, has expressed full support for the project, emphasizing its potential to boost the local economy.

“In our in-depth discussion, PT KIMA’s CEO shared plans to establish a new industrial area across two locations, one being in Maros Regency. I highly appreciate this initiative and hope it can come to fruition, as it fulfills the hopes of the people in South Sulawesi,” said Achmad Daeng Sere to *Parlementaria* after attending a Specific Working Visit of Commission VII to PT KIMA in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday (November 13, 2024).

Daeng Sere further highlighted Maros’ strategic location, being close to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport and having easy access to the port. These geographic advantages make it a prime site for industrial and economic growth.

“For the future, I hope this project can be realized, perhaps even by next year. God willing, I, along with Commission VII, will continue to oversee developments in Maros,” he added.

Daeng Sere, who represents South Sulawesi, also emphasized the importance of close coordination among private sector stakeholders, provincial government, and local authorities to ensure the project’s success. He stressed the need for community involvement to ensure that everyone benefits from the industrial area’s development.

“I hope that all parties involved, including local government and private entities, can work together effectively. The Maros Regency Government should actively support and facilitate this process so the project can be realized as soon as possible,” he urged.

The Nasdem Party legislator expressed hope that the Maros industrial zone will create jobs and improve the well-being of South Sulawesi’s people, while also accelerating economic development in the region.

“It would be wonderful if we could achieve this as quickly as possible. As Mr. Jusuf Kalla often says, ‘the sooner, the better,'” he concluded.
