Subsidized Fertilizer Will Be Delivered Directly to Farmers

Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman and Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan (dok.Kementan).

Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman announced a simplified fertilizer distribution process, ensuring direct delivery to farmers.

“We have agreed to make the process shorter, easier, and simpler. Representing the government, I signed this decision for fertilizer distribution. We are entrusting it to Pupuk Indonesia directly, delivering straight to farmers to streamline the system,” he stated on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Amran noted that the decision was made in coordination with Minister of Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, known as Zulhas. The government plans to issue a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) next month to formalize this.

Before the Perpres is enacted, the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) has established a rule to reduce bureaucracy. According to this rule, the fertilizer distribution process no longer requires authorization from governors or regents.

Under the new regulation, fertilizers allocated by Kementan will be handed over to PT Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company (PIHC), which will then distribute them directly to farmers’ groups (Gapoktan). This ensures that the allocated fertilizers are quickly accessible to farmers.

“Now, fertilizers go directly from the Ministry of Agriculture to Pupuk Indonesia, and from Pupuk Indonesia straight to Gapoktan. We’ve streamlined numerous regulations today,” said Zulhas at the same event.

Amran also mentioned that the volume of fertilizer for Indonesian farmers has been doubled, a 100 percent increase. Additionally, if the area of farmland increases, the fertilizer supply will also be increased.

“This is a blessing, wonderful news for all Indonesian farmers, following the guidance of the President,” said Amran.
