BANDUNG, Jakartaweekly.com—PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), operating as InJourney Airports, is accelerating preparations to optimize operations at Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung following the government’s policy to expand flight services at the airport.
The preparations are focused on strengthening safety and security measures, as well as upgrading supporting infrastructure to ensure all operational requirements comply with applicable aviation standards and regulations.
Regional CEO of InJourney Airports Regional Office I, I Wayan Darma, said the preparations are being carried out in stages through close coordination with aviation regulators, local governments, the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU), and other airport stakeholders.
“We continue to accelerate various preparations as part of InJourney Airports’ support for the government’s policy,” Wayan said in Bandung recently.
He explained that one of the company’s key initiatives is increasing the capacity of the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) unit by adding more firefighting and rescue vehicles.
According to Wayan, the additional fleet is intended to meet the required service category for supporting jet aircraft operations.
In addition to strengthening facilities, InJourney Airports is enhancing the readiness of ARFF personnel through organizational adjustments, training programs, and compliance with operational standards to ensure rapid response during airside emergencies.
On the security front, the company is also increasing the number of Aviation Security (Avsec) personnel to support airport operations.
Security measures are being reinforced by optimizing screening facilities, including X-ray machines, walkthrough metal detectors, handheld metal detectors, CCTV systems, and other security equipment in accordance with civil aviation security standards.
Meanwhile, Husein Sastranegara Airport General Manager Granito W. Hindrawan said the airport is also carrying out phased infrastructure improvements to enhance the readiness of operational facilities and passenger services.
According to him, the upgrades cover both airside and landside infrastructure. The work is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation, the West Java Provincial Government, the Bandung City Government, and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU). The collaboration also includes improving accessibility, reorganizing the surrounding airport area, and developing other supporting infrastructure.
Granito expressed hope that the inter-agency collaboration would ensure Husein Sastranegara Airport is fully prepared for operations while not only meeting aviation safety and security standards but also improving convenience and accessibility for the public.
