Government Ensures Immigration Services Remain Uninterrupted Despite Silmy Karim Being Named a KPK Suspect

JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com—The government has assured that public services at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections will continue to operate normally despite Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim being named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the government has coordinated with the Minister of Immigration and Corrections to ensure that all services continue without disruption.

“We have also communicated with the Minister of Immigration and Corrections to ensure that this incident does not affect services provided to the public,” Prasetyo said in Jakarta on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

At the same time, he emphasized that the government will not interfere with the ongoing legal process. Prasetyo said the government respects the steps taken by the KPK in handling the case.

According to him, the official status of government officials undergoing legal proceedings will be addressed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The case involving Silmy adds to the growing list of state officials who have faced legal action in recent days. Prasetyo said the situation has become a matter of serious concern for the government.

He revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has repeatedly reminded state officials to maintain integrity and refrain from abusing the authority entrusted to them.

“Over the past two days, we have been deeply concerned to see incidents that clearly are not what we expect continue to occur. On numerous occasions, the President has consistently reminded all of us to improve ourselves and to fight corrupt practices in carrying out our daily duties,” he said.
