Pati Community Alliance to Protest at DPR RI Complex Over Corruption

JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com—Residents from Pati are preparing to hold a major protest outside the Indonesian Parliament in Jakarta on August 27, 2026. The Alliance of United Pati Communities (AMPB) plans to bring its demands to the DPR/MPR RI complex in Senayan.

The planned Demo 27 Agustus 2026 will focus on corruption and law enforcement. AMPB is calling on the government and DPR RI to pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill and impose the death penalty on corruption offenders.

AMPB coordinator Supriyono, also known as Botok, said the demands reflect growing concerns over the country’s condition. He urged the government and lawmakers to move quickly on legislation aimed at strengthening the fight against corruption.

“Our demands are only two. Mr. President, the government and DPR must immediately pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill and the death penalty for corruptors,” Supriyono told reporters in Senayan recently.

AMPB considers the Asset Forfeiture Bill an important tool in tackling corruption. The group believes the legislation could strengthen the legal basis for recovering assets allegedly obtained through criminal acts.

The group is also demanding the maximum punishment for corruption offenders. The call for the death penalty has become one of its main points ahead of the planned protest at the Parliament complex.

The planned action by the Pati community comes amid another wave of demonstrations during August. This year’s escalation is expected to be larger than last year, with AMPB and other community groups preparing to bring various demands to Parliament.

Ahead of the protest, Parliament reportedly held a closed briefing. The move was aimed at anticipating possible political and security tensions in Jakarta on August 27.

The planned protest has also drawn reactions from the wider public. The official Remotivi account on Threads wrote, “To all CEOs in Indonesia: Let’s take collective leave on August 27,” encouraging employers to give workers an opportunity to join the action.

The protest has also generated significant discussion across social media platforms. The growing online debate reflects public attention toward the Demo 27 Agustus 2026, although disputes have emerged over claims of support from several organizations.

The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Muslim Student Action Union, or PP KAMMI, also issued a clarification. The organization responded to claims by Muhammad Amri Akbar, who reportedly said he opposed the August 27 protest.

PP KAMMI said Akbar is no longer part of the organization. It therefore stressed that his statement does not represent the group’s official position.

The organization also said students would continue to stand alongside the people’s movement. The statement came as online discussions over the planned protest continued to grow.

For AMPB, the action is more than an opportunity to voice public concerns outside Parliament. The group wants the government and DPR RI to accelerate efforts against corruption and pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill.
