TANGERANG, Jakartaweekly.com — PT SKF Indonesia is expanding its automotive aftermarket portfolio in Indonesia by preparing a range of products for four-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and electric vehicles.
The expansion includes products beyond conventional bearings, including third-generation wheel bearings, strut bearings, water pumps, driveshafts, seals, and suspension products. SKF will also bring electric vehicle solutions to the Indonesian aftermarket.
Director of Vehicle Aftermarket Sales Asia Pacific at SKF Ken Miao said Indonesia is one of the important markets for SKF Automotive. Over the past 40 years, the company has built relationships with local partners and distributors and invested through facilities in Indonesia.
“Based on our strong cooperation in the electric vehicle sector, we will also bring our electric vehicle solutions to Indonesia,” Ken said.
In the four-wheel vehicle segment, SKF Automotive Indonesia plans to introduce a new portfolio featuring third-generation wheel bearings to the Indonesian market starting next year. The company will also enter the suspension application segment through strut bearing products.
According to SKF Automotive Indonesia President Director Vincentius Rajagukguk, the development is part of SKF’s portfolio expansion in the Indonesian market.
“SKF is no longer talking only about bearings. SKF has now also entered non-bearing products,” Vincentius said.
Non-bearing products such as water pumps and other components are also part of SKF’s portfolio development to meet the needs of the increasingly diverse automotive aftermarket.
For passenger vehicles, the portfolio to be brought to Indonesia includes water pumps, driveshafts, seals, and suspension products. For commercial vehicles, SKF is preparing products such as seals and grease for the Indonesian aftermarket.
The portfolio expansion is also being directed toward electric vehicles. Ken said SKF already has experience providing solutions for electric vehicles and works with several electric vehicle manufacturers in global markets.
In addition to expanding its product range, SKF Automotive Indonesia will continue to strengthen its two-wheel vehicle business, which has been one of the company’s key sectors. Vincentius said SKF has a strong position in the two-wheeler bearing market and will continue to explore its potential in the segment.
“For 40 years, SKF has made a very strategic contribution to the development of the automotive industry, particularly through bearings as safety parts,” Vincentius said.
SKF also plans to increase investment in business-supporting infrastructure in Indonesia. Strengthening warehousing, distribution, and product training will be part of the company’s plans to improve services for partners and customers in the aftermarket market.
Ken said the development is expected to help SKF’s partners run their businesses more effectively while improving product availability and product knowledge in the Indonesian market.
The business expansion in Indonesia comes as SKF globally undertakes a separation of its automotive and industrial businesses into two independent companies. The separation process has been underway for around one and a half years.
Ken said one company will focus on industrial business, while the other will focus on automotive business. According to him, the separation is intended to allow each company to move faster and have a more specific business focus.
“In automotive, we need faster movement and decision-making. Meanwhile, the industrial side requires a more strategic business focus,” Ken said.
SKF will introduce its new global branding in November 2026 and plans to proceed with a listing in December 2026. Following the process, the automotive and industrial businesses will operate as separate companies.
In Indonesia, SKF marked its 40th anniversary in the country at Automechanika Jakarta 2026 at NICE PIK2, Tangerang, on Friday (Sept. 25, 2026).
Vincentius said the company’s four-decade journey has been part of SKF’s process of navigating various changes in the industry, ranging from economic conditions and market competition to technological developments and the shift from conventional vehicles to electrification.
“SKF continues to evolve, SKF continues to transform, and SKF will deliver the best quality,” Vincentius said.
