Jakartaweekly.com — Leapmotor has surpassed one million vehicle deliveries globally, marking a key milestone as it strengthens its position in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
Since its founding in 2019, the company has delivered nearly 1.2 million units worldwide by 2025, with annual sales reaching 596,555 units. The growth highlights Leapmotor’s rapid rise as one of China’s fastest-growing EV brands.
The company’s competitiveness is supported by strong in-house capabilities, with around 65% of vehicle components and development handled internally, enabling efficiency and cost control.
Leapmotor is also expanding globally through its partnership with Stellantis, leveraging the group’s international distribution network to accelerate entry into new markets.
In Indonesia, PT Indomobil National Distributor (IND) has announced plans to bring Leapmotor into the domestic market as part of the country’s growing EV ecosystem.
IND, which also handles brands under Stellantis such as Citroën and Jeep, said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with global partners to introduce Leapmotor vehicles in Indonesia.
“We plan to assemble these vehicles locally in Indonesia, while also managing distribution, after-sales services, and product quality nationwide,” said Tan Kim Piauw, CEO of PT Indomobil National Distributor (IND) based on Antaranews.
The plan goes beyond imports, covering local production, nationwide distribution, and after-sales services, signaling a long-term commitment to the Indonesian market.
Leapmotor, founded in 2015 and headquartered in Hangzhou, focuses on EV technology development, including electric motors, batteries, smart cockpit systems, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
IND said the company is targeting multiple vehicle segments, ranging from entry-level to premium models, including SUVs, sedans, and MPVs. However, final product decisions will depend on local market demand.
Globally, Leapmotor’s lineup includes models such as the C10 and C16 SUVs, B01 sedan, and T03 city car—offering a wide range of options that could be introduced to Indonesia.
With strong global growth and an upcoming Indonesia entry, Leapmotor is positioning itself as a key challenger in the EV market, particularly in emerging economies with rising demand for affordable electric vehicles.
