Governor Pramono and Rano Karno Celebrate Eid at Jakarta City Hall

Jakartaweekly.com — The Jakarta Provincial Government hosted the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah prayers at the City Hall courtyard on Saturday morning, March 21, 2026. Under the theme “Weaving Fellowship in a Symphony of Victory for a Pure Jakarta,” approximately 2,000 worshippers gathered in a solemn atmosphere. The service was attended by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Vice Governor Rano Karno, and the 13th Vice President of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, who delivered the keynote sermon.

In his address, KH Ma’ruf Amin described Eid as a moment of moral and spiritual victory. He emphasized that the Indonesian tradition of halalbihalal serves as a vital social bridge to strengthen brotherhood. He noted that trust born from these connections is the essential social capital needed to build a modern civilization. Amin urged the public to maintain a balance between spiritual devotion and social responsibility, reminding the diverse congregation that differences should be woven into harmony, much like a symphony, rather than becoming a source of conflict.

Following the prayers, Governor Pramono and Vice Governor Rano Karno engaged in a warm “open house” at the Sunda Kelapa Room, welcoming citizens from all walks of life. Governor Pramono expressed his gratitude for the city’s recent orderly celebrations, including the successful Car Free Night. He invited every resident to embrace the “Jaga Jakarta” (Guard Jakarta) spirit, framing the city’s safety, comfort, and prosperity as a collective responsibility amidst shifting global challenges.

Vice Governor Rano Karno highlighted that these inclusive religious and cultural festivities—ranging from Christmas Carols and Lunar New Year to Eid—are strategic steps toward elevating Jakarta’s standing in the Global City Index. He remarked that despite heavy rainfall during the festivities, the events proceeded smoothly, reflecting the city’s resilience.

While the open house served strictly as a joyful gathering for social bonding rather than a formal forum for grievances, Rano reminded residents that the government remains accessible. He noted that public aspirations continue to be facilitated through official channels, including local administrative offices, social media, and the JAKI application, ensuring that the spirit of togetherness at City Hall translates into responsive governance year-round.
