JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has signed a sales and purchase agreement with PT Mitra Aviasi Perkasa (PT MAP) for four N219 aircraft, marking the first domestic commercial contract for the Indonesian-made aircraft.

PTDI President Director Gita Amperiawan stated that the contract covers the procurement of four N219 aircraft in cargo configuration, along with supporting equipment, training, and technical documentation. Delivery and completion will be carried out in stages once the contract becomes effective.

“This is the inaugural N219 aircraft contract for the domestic commercial market, with PT MAP serving as both buyer and operator,” he said in a statement on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

He explained that the agreement represents a strategic step in accelerating the commercialization of the N219 as a domestically developed aircraft, with a local content level (TKDN) of 44.69 percent.

The initiative is expected to strengthen air transportation services, particularly in Indonesia’s disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost regions (3TP), where connectivity remains limited.

Going forward, the development of the N219 business ecosystem and its operational deployment will require policy support and cross-ministerial coordination, including from the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Transportation, to ensure the sustainability of the program in supporting Indonesia’s national development agenda.

N219 Built for Remote and Regional Air Connectivity

Gita emphasized that the N219 was specifically designed to serve remote and underserved areas, with the capability to operate on short runways of less than one kilometer as well as unpaved airstrips.

The aircraft also features a very low stall speed, allowing for safer maneuverability and reliable operations in challenging terrains, including mountainous regions.

“From an operational perspective, the aircraft is designed with competitive operating costs, ease of maintenance, and comprehensive after-sales support from PTDI,” he said.

With these capabilities, the N219 is expected to improve logistics distribution and community mobility in isolated regions, while also supporting more equitable regional economic growth across Indonesia.
