SUCOFINDO Drives Green & Digital Innovation at HackIn’ Fest in Surabaya

SUCOFINDO promotes its SCIence HackIn’ Fest 2025 in Surabaya, focusing on the theme of transformation

State-owned enterprise PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) continued its “SCIence HackIn’ Fest 2025” roadshow at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) in Surabaya on July 1st. The event, themed “Empowering Green Transformation with Digital & Technological Innovation,” aims to foster collaboration between industry and academia to drive digital solutions for environmental and sustainable development challenges. This marks the latest stop in a series of events held at prominent Indonesian universities, including IPB University and Hasanuddin University.

  1. Surahman, Head of the PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) Surabaya Branch, highlighted the critical role of the younger generation in addressing sustainability issues. “Through this theme, we want to invite students to contribute with real, applicable ideas and innovations. We believe the younger generation has great potential to be drivers of change,” Surahman stated. He also noted that the event serves as a platform to strengthen the relationship between campus and industry while accelerating technology adoption for sustainability efforts.

The initiative was well-received by the university. Hertiari Idajati, Head of the Entrepreneurship and Career Sub-directorate at ITS, stated that the event is an important space for honing students’ competitiveness and innovative potential. “We welcome collaborative initiatives like this because they can encourage an increase in students’ capacity to respond to real challenges in society,” she said.

The event featured speakers from both industry and academia who discussed strategic topics such as green technology and smart farming. Krisbiantoro, an Environmental Specialist at PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), emphasized that green transformation is no longer a choice but a necessity driven by the climate crisis and global demands. He explained that technology is the main driver of this change, with the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing enabling efficiency and helping to achieve environmental targets like Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting.

Representing academia, Fuad Dary Rosyadi, a lecturer from the ITS Information Technology Department, presented a case study on the application of IoT in the agricultural sector. He detailed a smart farming implementation in Kare Village, Madiun, which successfully reduced water waste and increased farmer productivity through automated sensors and an application-based dashboard. “The best innovation is not the most advanced, but the most beneficial,” Fuad remarked, stressing the need for technology that is solution-oriented and adaptive to real-world challenges.

The “SCIence HackIn’ Fest 2025” is a national-scale innovation competition open to students, technology communities, and SUCOFINDO’s internal staff. Participants can choose from five main topics:
