JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com – Toyota Indonesia held the Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) Jelajah Nusantara program in North Toraja as a strategic step to explore students’ potential through the development of environment-based innovative ideas across Indonesia.
President Director of TMMIN, Nandi Julyanto, said the program aims to reach regions with significant potential that have not yet been optimally accessed.
“Through direct interaction with students and schools, Toyota Indonesia creates space for ideas that stem from an understanding of local environmental conditions, while also encouraging solutions that are more relevant and applicable within communities,” he said in a press statement as seen on Friday, April 17, 2026.

On this occasion, the management collaborated with State Vocational High School (SMKN) 2 Rantepao in Toraja. According to him, Toraja represents a region rich in local potential closely linked to environmental sustainability.
He added that each region in Indonesia has its own uniqueness, including local wisdom that has long been part of community life. Through TEY Jelajah Nusantara, this potential is expected to be further developed into innovative ideas that not only have local impact but also contribute more broadly to the environment.
TEY Jelajah Nusantara itself is an initiative to introduce TEY, one of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs focused on environmental preservation through a project-based innovation competition for senior high school students and their equivalents across Indonesia.

He noted that since its inception in 2005, TEY has consistently encouraged greater awareness and active participation among the younger generation on environmental issues.
To date, over more than two decades, TEY has involved more than 2,083 schools from 34 provinces, with a total of 9,972 environmental project ideas submitted for competition.
“This achievement reflects the vast potential of Indonesia’s younger generation to deliver innovative solutions rooted in the environmental conditions and needs of their respective regions,” he said.
