JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com — Passenger traffic on the Whoosh high-speed rail surged during the long weekend, with PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) recording 21,900 passengers on Friday (May 1, 2026), up around 15 percent compared to a typical weekend.

Strong demand was reflected in ticket sales, with departures from Halim Station selling out from morning through the afternoon, particularly on the Jakarta–Bandung route.

KCIC Corporate Secretary General Manager Eva Chairunisa said the increase reflects strong public interest in using Whoosh as a preferred mode of transport during extended holidays.

“Passenger volume remains high today, dominated by travel from Jakarta to Bandung. We urge the public to plan their trips carefully and book tickets in advance, as seats during peak hours tend to sell out quickly during long weekends,” Eva said  in a statement on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Meanwhile, as of Saturday (May 2, 2026), ticket sales had reached around 10,000 and are expected to climb to approximately 22,000 passengers by the end of the day.

Amid heightened mobility, KCIC also reminded passengers to comply with baggage regulations. Each passenger is allowed to carry a maximum of three items—such as two suitcases or boxes and one handbag or backpack—with a total weight limit of 20 kilograms and dimensions not exceeding 100 cm x 40 cm x 30 cm.

KCIC reiterated the prohibition on carrying hazardous items onboard, including flammable or explosive materials, narcotics, firearms or sharp weapons without proper authorization, as well as strong-smelling items that may disrupt other passengers’ comfort.

To enhance convenience, KCIC provides porter services at Halim Station to assist passengers with multiple belongings, ensuring smooth boarding and preventing congestion.

Passengers are also advised to store their luggage in designated areas onboard, such as overhead racks or storage spaces between train cars, in accordance with size requirements.

“KCIC reminds all passengers to adhere to the applicable baggage rules to ensure a smooth journey and maintain comfort for everyone,” she said.
