JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com — Hyundai Motor Group has introduced Pleos Connect, its next-generation artificial intelligence (AI)-powered vehicle infotainment system, which will begin rolling out across Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicle lineups as part of the company’s transformation toward software-driven mobility.

The new system will make its debut in the new GRANDEUR in South Korea in May 2026 before gradually expanding to global markets, including the recently launched IONIQ 3 in Europe. Hyundai aims to install Pleos Connect in approximately 20 million vehicles by 2030.

This launch marks a strategic step for Hyundai in strengthening its position in the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) era, where vehicles function not only as transportation tools but also as evolving digital platforms enhanced through continuous software updates.

Jongwon Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Feature & CCS Sub-Division at Hyundai Motor Group, said Pleos Connect is a next-generation infotainment system designed to deliver a better mobility experience by combining a mobile-friendly platform with advanced AI technology.

“Pleos Connect is designed with a focus on ease of use, safety, and system openness,” he said in a statement on Friday, May 8, 2026.

He explained that Hyundai has adopted a smartphone-like approach through an intuitive interface, third-party app support, and over-the-air (OTA) updates to continuously improve Pleos Connect’s performance.

Inside the cabin, the system features a wide central display that supports navigation, media, and external applications, paired with a slim driver-focused screen that provides essential driving information such as speed and navigation guidance.

Hyundai also retains physical buttons on the steering wheel and main control panel to enhance safety, allowing drivers to access key functions without relying too heavily on touchscreen controls.

In the navigation sector, Pleos Connect offers a more flexible system through modular layouts, real-time traffic data, and route optimization powered by user big data.

Another standout feature is Gleo AI, a large language model (LLM)-based voice assistant capable of understanding conversational context, executing multiple commands simultaneously, and controlling various vehicle functions through natural language.

“Gleo AI is an intelligent AI agent that interacts naturally like a companion in the passenger seat,” said Jongho Lee, Team Lead of the Gleo AI Group at 42dot.

Beyond AI, Hyundai is also expanding its digital ecosystem through App Market, an open platform that enables services such as YouTube, Spotify, and various other applications to be integrated directly into the vehicle without requiring smartphone connectivity.

He said this move brings Hyundai closer to its long-term vision of Artificial Intelligence–Defined Vehicles (AIDV), where vehicles become increasingly integrated with personalized AI and digital services tailored to user needs.

With Pleos Connect, Hyundai is not only upgrading its infotainment system but also building a new foundation for future vehicles that are more connected, adaptive, and software-oriented.
