JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com – The live-action film Wind Breaker officially begins its regular theatrical release across cinema networks in Indonesia starting April 15, 2026. Fans can watch it in theaters such as Cinépolis Cinemas and CGV Cinemas.
The live-action Wind Breaker is adapted from the popular manga of the same title by Satoru Nii.
The film follows the story of Haruka Sakura, a new student at Furin High School—known as a gathering place for tough delinquents. However, instead of causing trouble, the students form a group called Bofurin, which is tasked with protecting the safety of Makochi City.
The film is directed by Kentaro Hagiwara, who previously helmed Blue Period and Tokyo Ghoul. He collaborated directly with the original mangaka, Satoru Nii, to include original scenes created specifically for the film version.
In its scenes, Wind Breaker highlights intense street fights and realistic martial arts choreography.
This large-scale production emphasizes hand-to-hand combat without heavy reliance on CGI. It also features the construction of a massive open set in Okinawa to realistically bring the city of Makochi to life.
Within the “yankee” or modern delinquent action genre, audiences can expect high visual accuracy of the characters—from Haruka Sakura’s iconic dual-tone hairstyle, portrayed by Koshi Mizukami, to Noritaka Hamao’s physical dedication, including extreme weight loss, to accurately embody the character Jo Togame.
Adding to the on-screen tension, the group BE:FIRST performs the main soundtrack titled “Stay Strong.” Unlike the anime version, the song was specially created to deliver a more powerful cinematic energy.
The track serves not only as a soundtrack but also carries emotional depth, as its lyrics were co-written by JUNON—who also plays Kyotaro Sugishita in the film.
