JAKARTA, Jakartaweekly.com—Bandung-based football club Persib emerged as the champion of the 2025/2026 BRI Super League. After playing 34 matches, Marc Klok and his teammates collected a total of 79 points.
Persib secured the BRI Super League title after drawing their final match against Persijap. The result was enough to crown them champions, edging out Borneo FC, which finished with the same number of points.
The club nicknamed Maung Bandung claimed the title due to a superior head-to-head record. The BRI Super League format requires each team to face one another twice, both home and away.
In the first meeting between Persib and Borneo FC Samarinda, Maung Bandung won 3-1. Meanwhile, the second encounter ended in a 1-1 draw. As a result, Persib held a two-goal aggregate advantage.
Based on match statistics on the PSSI website, Maung Bandung recorded 24 wins from 34 matches. Meanwhile, Borneo FC Samarinda won 25 matches.
Persib also registered seven draws and three defeats. Meanwhile, Borneo FC Samarinda recorded four draws and five losses.
The race for the 2025/2026 BRI Super League trophy between Persib and Borneo FC Samarinda was extremely tight. Heading into Matchday 37, both teams still had a strong chance of becoming champions.
Borneo FC Samarinda, which had collected 76 points, needed a victory to secure the title. Meanwhile, Persib had already amassed 78 points.
Determined to lift the trophy, Borneo FC Samarinda played all-out football. In their final match, they secured a convincing 7-1 victory over Malut United.
Mariano Peralta scored quick goals in the first half in the 7th and 11th minutes. One minute later, Juan Villa extended the lead to 3-0.
Despite leading by three goals, Borneo FC did not ease up their attack. They scored their fourth and fifth goals in the 26th and 57th minutes through Koldo Obieta. Muhammd Sihran and Kaio each added goals in the 78th and 93rd minutes.
Malut United managed to pull one goal back in the 77th minute through Frets Butuan, making the score 7-1.
In another match, Persib, facing Persijap, also pushed hard to secure the best possible result. Several scoring opportunities were created in both the first and second halves, but the ball refused to find the back of Persijap’s net.
The solid defense of Persijap’s backline became one of the main factors behind Persib’s failure to score, both in the first and second halves.
